School. I really don't want to be here. I really don't want to deal with this mass of teenagers. I really don't want to deal with the relentless assignments and the overbearing teachers. Most of all I don't want to deal with Beatrice and her clones.

I'm sitting in my government class just waiting for the bell to ring so I can go to lunch. Savannah is sitting beside me and Mark and Eli are in a different class. She's just as zoned out as I am as Mr. Hansen drones on and one about something I can't be bothered to listen to.

Yesterday was my birthday and everyone made it so incredible. I haven't told Eli or anyone that my mom never contacted me to wish me a happy birthday. I tried not to be hurt by it, but I couldn't help it. She's supposed to be my mom. She's supposed to know the day she shot me out of her who-ha. I'm glad Kyle never contacted me, but I wish my mother had. Even just a simple generic 'Happy Birthday'. Just anything.

Ring!

Finally time for lunch. Everyone gathered all of their stuff into their backpacks and headed off to wherever they spent their lunch. Savannah and I walked together to the cafeteria to the table we have been sitting at with Eli and Mark. For some reason we have been in our own little world. Just us four lately. Eli and Mark have been spending their lunches with us instead of the rest of the football team since we all became partners for the dance project thing in PE.

"Hey gorgeous!" Eli greeted when we sat beside them. Me next to him and Savannah next to Mark like usual. "How's your day going so far?" He asked.

"Good." I said shortly, not really in the mood to talk. I'm more upset over my mom than I'd like to admit.

"What's wrong? Is anyone giving you a hard time?" He asked with concern in his voice.

"No, I'm good Eli." I gave him a small smile hoping he'd drop it.

"Athena, what's going on in that pretty head of yours?"

"Just tired."

"Don't give me that. I know you better than that Athena." He's not using any of his pet names for me so I know he's serious. I sighed.

"I guess I'm just a little hurt that my mom never reached out to wish me a happy birthday yesterday. I don't know why I'm upset, it's not like she's much of a mom anyway."

"Baby girl. I'm sorry." He wrapped an arm over my shoulder pulling me into a gentle side hug.

"It's okay, I'll get over it" I muttered.

"I brought leftover chinese food from yesterday, since I know you like to forget to grab your own lunch." He told me producing a few takeout boxes from a bag. "It's gold, but cold chinese food is good." he chuckled.

We all ate and spent our lunch laughing and joking. Savannah was trying to convince Mark that he doesn't need his brownie. She tried insisting that he was starting to pudge up. He never believed her, but shared his brownie anyway. Eli and I just sat there laughing at their obvious flirting, while he held my hand under the table.

The bell rang and we headed off to PE. I like that we have this class right after lunch so that Eli and Mark can walk with us. Our schedules are weird. On mondays we have periods 2-7 and they are shortened as monday is a shorter day than the rest of the week. Tuesday and Thursday we have periods 1, 2, 4, and 6. Wednesdays and Fridays we have 1, 3, 5, and 7.

"Go change we will see you girls in a few minutes." Mark said when we reached the locker rooms. We nodded and headed into the girls locker room.

"What are we doing today V?" I asked
