Charlie's POV
Nothing.
I feel nothing.
I hear nothing.
I see nothing.
Then everything.
Red and blue flashing lights flood into my line of sight. I blink to clear my vision. I turn and all I see is blood. Blood covering a small unmoving body. Dangling harshly in her seat in our overturned car.
Deliah.
Someone is on the floor beside my window shouting something at me that I can't hear over the ringing in my ears. I point at my daughter. I try to tell him to help her first, but nothing comes out.
Then nothing.
When I come to again I'm laying on a stretcher being wheeled into the awaiting ambulance. I'm strapped to a plastic board. I feel wires, and straps, and gauze covering my body. They put an oxygen mask on my face.
I make eye contact with the paramedic beside me.
Where's my daughter?!
That's what I want to ask.
But nothing comes out.
I feel heavy snowflakes fall upon my face.
Snow. We were driving home and we were hit. Twice.
Deliah!
"She's in the other ambulance, on her way to the hospital. We are taking care of her." I finally was able to make out from the throbbing mess I was hearing.
They got her out.
I can breathe.
Then nothing.
Eli's POV.
"So, baby girl what did you think of your first Thanksgiving?" I asked when Athena and I had found ourselves a comfortable spot on our couch.
"I think it was the best meal I have ever had." She smiled and my heart thumped beautifully in my chest. "I wish they would have stayed here. It's still snowing really hard."
"I know, but dad is a good driver and like he was saying, he's got good tires. I'm not worried." I smiled at her hoping to calm her nerves. She cares so much about them, I think it would kill her if anything happened to them.
"What do you want to do?" She asked.
"Hmm wanna go take a bubble bath?" I offered and she smiled again, nodding her head. "Okay, I'll go get it started, you go grab the bottle of sparkling cider we have in the fridge, with two glasses."
"Okay."
I went to the bathroom and started the water, adding bubbles. I decided to light a few candles so we can enjoy a romantic atmosphere. I turned on our bluetooth speaker and played out usual playlist. Athena met me in the bathroom shortly after the tub was filled and ready for us.
We both undressed and I got in the bubble water first and had her settle in front of me between my parted thighs. I had to focus on just enjoying this time with her, rather than the fact that we are naked and pressed so perfectly against each other.
