Elliot's POV
"So the homecoming game is in a couple weeks and we are playing the Vipers. They're not too difficult of a team so it should be an easy win--" Coach was cut off
"Coach! Elliot!" I heard a tiny voice shout as a girl ran out of the girl's locker room.
"What is it Rachel?" Coach asked the girl that got our attention.
"Savannah told me to come grab you two," Immediately my thoughts went to Athena "Athena is on the ground, she can't move." She got out and we both looked at each other before rushing into the locker room, followed by Mark and the girl.
When we opened the door Athena sure enough, is on the ground. She had a little bit of blood dripping down from her lip. My heart started pounding as I'm seeing her hurt again. Why can't I keep her safe? "Athena?! What happened?" I asked and Savannah told us the Beatrice pushed her into the lockers. I felt my rage build along with my hatred for that girl.
Mark ran out of the locker room to call and ambulance after Athena spit out blood and I sent a text to my dad to give him a heads up.
"Should we put a shirt on her?" Savannah asked and I saw my girl nod her head in embarrassment. I pulled off my jacket and put it on her just before Mark came back with the ambulance. They loaded her in the back.
"Who are you?" The paramedic asked me when he noticed me about to follow her inside the ambulance.
"Elliot Voss. My dad is going to meet us at the hospital, I'm going with her." I told them and they nodded their heads. We took off the the hospital and the paramedic asked us about how she broke her rib already. I told them about him and I tried to control the anger.
I said some things that I hoped we comforting during our ride to the hospital, and when we got there my dad was waiting. He asked what happened and I told him everything before he wheeled her away from me.
I made my way to the waiting area where I knew I'd have to sit. A few moments late Coach, Mark and Savannah came rushing in. Savannah had Athena's stuff so she wouldn't have to worry about it.
"My dad is having her X-rayed right now. Sorry Coach I'm going to miss practice today."
"No no Voss, I cancelled it. I sent everyone a text." I nodded as a thank you. I think Athena will appreciate him being here. "So you guys said she had a broken rib already? How did I not know that as her PE teacher?" He asked
"She didn't want anyone to know." Savannah said quietly, her voice tainted with shame.
"How did it happen?" He asked.
We all made eye contact wondering if she'd hate us for telling him when the paramedic's rolled by with the gurney that no longer held Athena.
"Did you hear? Poor girl, her father abused her. He actually broke her rib." They guy said to the other paramedic in a hushed, but not very quiet voice.
I looked to Coach to see if he heard him, and judging by the paleness of his face he did. "Her father?" He asked in shock. We all looked at each other before reluctantly nodding. "Oh my god." He said almost as if he were haunted by the thoughts.
"You can't say anything please, she's safe now." Savannah told him.
"How is she safe?" Coach asked.
"Her and I got a place together with the support of my father. She's safe with me." I told him.
"You're a good kid Eli." Coach told me placing a firm hand on my shoulder.
