You leaned back against the hard metal chair that you sat next to the green chalkboard, and watched Aizawa as he taught. The muscles of his forearms flexed as he wrote across the board.

You listened to the lesson for the most part, but found your mind wandering back to what the students had revealed. So many things about Aizawa's personality began to make sense.

Does that mean that all those scars were from that? ...I'm glad I didn't ask. Are his nightmares about the attack? Did something happen to his head—Wait. Is that how he got the scar on his cheek? There's gotta be some way I can find out more about what happened... I wonder how much the new reports would say..

No, shit. This is none of my business. If he wanted to talk about it he would have...

You shook your head trying to clear your thoughts as you felt the dull pressure of a headache building.

Deciding to take your mind off the quickly expanding list of questions in your head, you began to listen to the lesson.

"There's a reason behind every hostage situation, a goal that the villain is trying to reach." Aizawa explained as he turned away from the board to face the class.

"Wether or not that goal actually makes sense is irrelevant. It matters to the suspect, so we need to figure out what it is." He dropped the white chalk back in it's place on the chalkboard ledge, "As soon as you know what that goal is, you'll have a better idea of how to diffuse the situation.

"Don't expect every villain to monologue and tell you their whole plan from the get-go," he said as he pointed to his first bullet on the board, repertoire, "there's a good chance that you will need to create a familiarity with them and in a sense, get them to trust you.

"When I say you have to get them to trust you, you need to make them feel that you're really listening to what they're telling you. Their demands, their ideals, their expectations.

"If possible, try to relay any and all information you gather to any other responding Pros and the local authorities." Aizawa pointed to the second bullet, situational awareness, "While you're doing that, you need to take inventory of the surrounding area.

"The number of suspects. Visible weapons and their type. Number of victims. Potential exits...."

Aizawa continued to speak, but his words stopped registering as you found yourself entranced. His countenance shifted as he lectured. He gave off an air of authority. His slow, resigned movements were the only thing that kept him from being wholly intimidating.

*******

You only realized you were staring at Aizawa after Jiro knocked a textbook off her desk 'accidentally'. She said a quick apology before swiping it off the ground shaking her head.

Embarrassed, you skimmed over the remainder of the bullet points on the board before pulling out your phone. The screen lit up with several missed notifications. All of them from your friends that had just gotten back in town.

They wanted to make sure you were still available for dinner to catch up.

Tonight.

Your eyes widened as your fingers hovered over the keyboard, unsure how to respond.

I should cancel..... But I promised them before they left I'd go out with them. I shouldn't drag Aizawa into this, he doesn't really seem like he'd be interested in spending his evening with a bunch of strangers. —Yea, I need to just reschedule. What should I tell them though?

....

......

.... I'll figure it out later and text them when the class breaks for lunch.

You sighed and put your phone away.

Damn this sucks.
