"I did what..." you whispered.
"Yes Ms. L/N. During your altercation with Mr. Aizawa, you knocked out every living thing within a half mile radius of you. Wether or not that was intentional will be determined during an official interrogation that will take place at the station once you are discharged from the hospital."
"Wait, so this wasn't the official interrogation? What was that then?" You asked desperate to make sense of the situation.
"No ma'am. Due to the extenuating circumstances between you and Mr. Aizawa, it was deemed necessary to take a quick statement before you were discharged."
"Extenuating circumstances?" You asked.
"Due to the two of you still being affected by the quirk you came in contact with six nights ago, we're unable to effectively separate the two of you. Normally you would be separated to prevent either of you from threatening or convincing the other to change their statement."
"Threaten Y/N? What does she take me for? Some kind of lowlife thug?" Aizawa muttered to himself under his breath.
"No sir, I don't. To be honest, this is just a formality and the department following protocol." Deputy Blake admitted before covering the mic of her body cam, "I know you both are fine, and the whole situation was a freak accident. But by law, we're still required to say all this and do the interrogation."
Aizawa frowned at the woman, "What do you mean you know it was an accident?"
"Is it because of your quirk?" You wondered aloud.
Deputy Blake nodded, "Yea, I'm a mid-grade empath. I'm able to sense people's emotions, so I can usually tell if somebody's telling the truth."
"That's still so cool," you sighed, "I wish my quirk was cool like that."
Both deputy Blake and Aizawa stared at you as if to ask, 'are you being serious right now?'.
"Wha... oh. Right." You said lamely.
"After speaking with the both of you and getting a read on your emotions, I can say without a doubt that this was unintentional.
"At most you'll be facing a misdemeanor charge for quirk misuse since you were using it in self-defense. You'll be court ordered to attend quirk counseling to ensure this kind of thing doesn't happen in the future. For how long though is up to the decision of the court." Deputy Blake explained.
She turned around and looked squarely at Aizawa, "But more importantly, you, you need to talk with this woman while I'm gone and sort out whatever shit you were arguing about." Aizawa tried to interrupt her but she continued, "This is not up for debate. I'm scheduled to guard the two of you for another 9 hours, and I don't get enough hazard pay to be continually exposed to the shit show that are your emotions right now. I don't know what the heck you did to her to make yourself feel so damn remorseful, but it's giving me a migraine.
"With that being said, I'm going to take small lunch break. I'm going to stay out of the room for the next half hour. Sort some of that out while I'm gone."
Deputy Blake removed her hand from her mic. She stepped back to where she could address the both of you, "I'm stepping out for a moment. Please do not attempt to leave the room during that time. I would like advise the both of you that this facility is staffed with armed guards who are aware of your presence." She didn't wait for a response before leaving the room.
The door clicked shut behind her, leaving the two of you alone together yet again.
