*In Narrator's Voice* Previously on Dragon Ball Z! After discovering the second time machine, strange anomalies began to appear. One such case is the discovery of discarded skin belonging to a giant insect. Another is an incident revolving around the mysterious disappearance of the residents of a small town known as Ginger Town. Because of this, Kami has concluded that the only way to tackle these problems is to fuse with Piccolo. And so they did, and Piccolo proceeds to make his way to Ginger Town where he was greeted by a giant bug-like creature, today!
Goku is still recovering inside Capsule Corp where Ch-Chi and Launch tend to his needs. Blue Launch asks, "Looks like Goku's taking a turn for the better. Doesn't it?" Chi-Chi replies, "Yeah, you're right. I can tell." Suddenly, Goku stretches and Chi-Chi exclaims, "Goku! You're awake!" Blue Launch shouts in glee, "Goku!" However, he goes back to sleep, and Chi-Chi comments, "And he's out again." Blue Launch asks, "But he'll be waking up anytime now. Right?" Chi-Chi replies, "With any luck." Blue Launch replies, "Then I'm gonna tell Oolong and the others the good news!" She runs downstairs while Chi-Chi stays by her husband's side and thinks to herself, Oh, Goku... You'll get better in no time. Elsewhere in Ginger Town, Piccolo confronts the monster terrorizing the town. Not too far from them are the news reporters who are desperately trying to get out of Ginger Town. Axl and Rose nearly sneak out of the city until they see Piccolo and the monster. Rose stops and tells Axl, "Hey, Axl! Look! Over there!" Axl asks, "What is it?" Rose points to Piccolo and replies, "I remember that guy. He was with those other people when those strange men invaded Earth. What's he doing here and is he seriously gonna take that monster head-on? Looks like the guy from earlier still hasn't become that thing's lunch. I hope he makes it out. Maybe that other monster is there to save him!" Axl asks, "Save him? They're both monsters, Rose. We should just let them kill each other. That way we can get out of here!" Rose replies, "I get what you're saying but if they're preoccupied with each other then maybe just maybe we can record some footage without worrying about becoming that oversized cockroach's dinner." Axl replies, "That's a terrible idea, Rose! I'm not sticking around for this!" Rose replies, "Fine! I'll do it myself!" She begins to record until Axl tells her, "Come on, Rose! We've got to get out of here!" Rose replies, "Not now! It looks like they're about to do something. Now you could run away like a coward or help me record what may be the showdown of the century." Axl gives in and replies, "Alright! I'll stay! But if things start going haywire, we're bolting straight out of here! Got it?" Rose replies, "Yes, of course. Now be quiet, please."
Meanwhile, the man under the monster's mercy wakes up to find himself in a predicament. He notices Piccolo and tells him, "Hey! You with the big pointy ears! Help me! Do something! I'm in trouble here! Hey! I'm begging you! Come on, Man! Oh, you want to play hardball? I see how it is! Look! I'm the richest guy in Ginger Town!" He pulls out a stack of cash, waves it, and yells out, "All the money you can ask for! Just get me away from this thing? Come on!" His plead does not reach Piccolo's ears as he's busy staring at the monster trying to make sense of things. Frightened for his life, the rich man yells out, "Come on! Rescue me! What's the hold-up?" Piccolo ignores him and tells the monster, "I don't know if you can understand a word I'm saying but let that human go free. However measly, his life has value." The monster miraculously lets go of the rich man and Rose comments from afar, "Hey. He let him go. I guess all we had to do to make that monster stop was to talk to it. Maybe he's not as bad as we thought he was." Axl replies, "He's still scary-looking." Back to the confrontation, after being set free, the rich man slowly crawls away from the monster while telling Piccolo, "Took you long enough, Pal. Anyway, thanks for putting in a good for me. Wow, let's get out of here. Yeah?" Suddenly, he's stabbed in the back by the monster's tail to the shock of Piccolo and the news reporters as Rose comments in shock, "Never mind! He's a monster!"
