Karly's POV
All through the night I sat there freezing, I had never felt such cold weather besides Michigan and I had forgotten what it was like.
All night I stayed awake trying to receive warmth from Hayes who was just as cold. Luckily I had found my phone right next to me so I didn't have to do completely nothing all night.
'5:45 am' holy shit I had been up forever.
I carefully shun my light on Peyton and Hailey. Peyton was lying on his side hovering over Hailey like a blanket, his arms wrapped around her waist and back. Her head was snuggled in his comforting chest.
I held a fake side smile, my lip twitched meaning the tears were coming. I held them back. Part of me felt attached to Peyton, but I know he's not for me.
"You have Hayes" I told myself in my head.
"Hayes doesn't even love you anymore" the negative side of my head told me.
I dabbed my wet eyes with my cold wrist. A loud hiccup sounds ripped out of me, which wasn't a hiccup it was nothing more then a cry that was held back for to long.
I covered my mouth with the thin blanket trying not to cry.
"Stop it you're 16 and you're crying over nothing" the voice in my head lectured me making me feel worse.
"Suck it up baby girl you know there's others out there. Hayes and Peyton are not options anymore quit messing around and pull yourself together" the voices told me again.
"You're right" I told myself.
"Aren't I always"
I couldn't help but have these small pep talks with myself in my head. My heavy tired eyes started to close.
I slept for about 1 hour and I was still the first one up. The small circle window in the den let in a dim dark light in from the not yet risen sun.
I looked out the frosty window.
White frost rested on the grass.
The basketball hoop was froze."Winter is coming" a raspy voice mumbled next to me.
I jumped backwards scared by the voice.
"You scared me" I whispered to Peyton who said that.
I folded my arms to stay warm from the cold window.
"You're not used to the cold yet are you?" he asked wrapping a blanket over my shoulders.
"Not even close" I said with my morning breath spewing out of my mouth.
"You get used it after a week or so" He said warming up my hands with his.
We both stood there staring out the window.
"Look a snow flake" he pointing at the window.
I smiled at him and the pretty snow flake.
Soon millions of them were falling from the sky and hitting the grass.
"Come with me" I said grabbing his arm and pulling him.
We crouched over so we didn't hit our heads on the small door of the den.
Softly we walked down the hall trying not to wake anyone. I started shivering, a fan in the hall spun around producing cold air.
I turned it off.
Peyton unzipped his jacket and placed it on me. It was warm and smelled like Abercrombie.
I poured two cups of coffee and handed one to Peyton.
I sat down in front of the big fire place in the living room. I took the stick and moved around the logs.
Peyton sat down next to me taking a sip of his hot coffee.
The heat of the fire hit my cold legs.
The fire felt nice.I looked at the weather forecast on my phone.
'29 degrees'
I was used to seeing warmer but it's time for wearing coats and gloves.
"About the other day" Peyton started.
"I just want you to know I wasn't trying to get in your pants. It wasn't my intention to get with you it just felt right in the moment, I really liked you but I realize that you're meant for Hayes." He explainedI completely understood and it felt relaxing hearing what I needed to hear.
------------------------
After Hailey and Peyton went home we all piled into the Rover and headed to the mall for winter coats.
We all got a winter coat and gloves.
Knowing my dad we ended up buying two snowboards as well.
