"Almost there!" You squeaked as you jumped away dodging another mine bomb explosion taking instead the balance of other contestants who were pushed back. You see that you were getting closer to the other side of the field making you grin in relief.
"Yes, now all that's left is the finish line--"
"Excuse me, mademoiselle!" Cheer a flash of glitter as he zoomed past you. Seeing his winking face you froze in pale shock. Getting closer to the finish line he was, a sudden rush of emotions swirled in you as you saw his lean stature whizz pass you.
'He is gonna make it before me!?
I can't lose here!
I hear that there is only one last position!
All Bakugo's hard work on me will be wasted!--'
"You better not fuck shit up if you do then I won't buy you that food orange-haired dunce make!"
'I MUST WIN!!!' Your mind yelled in fury as your body moved without permission and out of control. You took a strong step back, feeling your feet smash the surface of the ground creating a noticeable dig-in marks that we're the traces of your footsteps.
"Todoroki-chan!?" Tomodaichi who caught up with you pales in shock when she saw your sudden burst of speed and strength.
Under a second a large explosion erupted behind your back propelling you forward at a fast speed. The explosion you made then had a series following after adding up to your speed toll more and more giving you enough force as it continued to properly you out of the field.
'I made it!' You cheered but then squinted your eye at the blonde who was still in front of you, 'But I am not out of the woods yet!'. Despite your legs burning and your muscles aching, you pushed on.
Rewarding your efforts, you began to notice the closing distance you have with the blonde. 'Is he slowing down?' You hypothesize when the laser trail he left behind began to grow fewer and thinner, the bright light diminishing. 'He is!' This was the last stretch, you both are now entering the gate's tunnel but despite your efforts of pushing your exhaustion limit, you were still far behind.
'Just this once...' You tell yourself as you slightly slow down with your soles pressed onto the cement. 'Just... Once..'
You pushed your feet off the ground and a sudden burst of force pushed you forward.
Seeing a shadow approach him at an incredibly fast speed the blonde, French-talking male squeaked in slight fear and surprise. The wind whipped at his side knocking him out of his course and crashing into the ground rolling like a barrel downhill as he let out a string of yelps.
Zooming past the gate you grinned massively as you hear the horn sound as the last person who can make it to the next round.
'I... I did it!' You gleefully thought forgetting you are a foot above the ground and was unprepared to land, so when your legs skid onto the ground it yanked you back roughly till your body kissed the dirt in tumbles until you ended up landing on your behind.
You let out a pained groan while you relax in your seat.
Panting like a child you went on a roller coaster for the first time your lips broke into a smile once you placed your heart to rest for the moment.
"I thought I wouldn't make it..." You whimpered feeling your self-doubt drain out of you.
Looking at the crowd who all continued to cheer at you all from their seat. Their cheer kinda makes your confidence so to say. It was weird that you'd be confident just because there are a lot of people screaming in their chairs. 'This still feels surreal to me... Never have I been to a place like this...' Your thoughts tickled your brain when you felt your heart twinge in warmth.
You must have looked funny cause you don't notice the hand that was offered before you until the said person grunted just to get your attention.
Looking up you felt your face lose its color when you met eyes with your brother.
He doesn't look happy for some reason. 'Did he see what I did in the last stretch of the track??' You brain swirled haywire at the worrying thought of your brother catching you.
But it seems as he wasn't angry for that reason. Yet. Instead, he raised a brow and allowed his eyes to soften as he took your arms and reeled you up to your feet.
You yelp at how easily he picked you up but said nothing and smiled in appreciation.
But the look in your eyes made Shōtō frown in guilt and sorrow, even if his face looked stone hard to others. You still held some fear and uneasiness towards him. He didn't need your quirk to know that.
Had he really mistreated you that bad that made you fear him? He never wants you to feel the need to fear him.
He isn't your father.
He is your brother.
He should be the person that you will never fear and should trust wholeheartedly. Your actions never matched the woman he was with when he was young, but hints of its early appearance washed over your face. The thought of being like the man he was rebelling against left a bad taste in his mouth. But would now be the right time to clear things up?
No. This is a really important event. You can wait until the end of this.
"Todoroki!" Someone called turning both of your heads towards the caller. Noticing the acts of the other you both couldn't help but feel embarrassed and tried to hide away the hint of pink that you both had on your cheeks.
The caller, your classmate, did saw you look his way but said nothing as he felt as if he disturbed something.
"Uh, nothing nevermind, I-I just came to tell you that Shinsō-san was looking for you." He quickly passed the message to you then ran off feeling embarrassed that the similar blank stares you both shared towards his way.
Unknown to the reason for your classmate's actions, you simply shrugged and turned to your brother.
"Uh..." You racked your brain for something to say to your brother. But the awkward air you feel that is wafting around you and Shōtō was very noticeable and suffocating and you want out of it just for now, since you weren't really ready to face him.
"I have your back..." Mutters Shōtō catching you by surprise.
"W-What?"
"Make sure you don't lose this next round. I want to see how far you've gone." Said Shōtō as he walked off to the crowd forming. But the more the distance grew between you the more you felt ... Heartbroken, with his words. Does he understand that wasn't what you wanted to hear? Of course, he doesn't but you want to tell him so bad, but felt that it wasn't the right time and this wasn't the right place to, instead...
"I don't need a sensei, Shōtō... I want need my brother."
Was the words you muttered to his distancing back side. You almost didn't mind that he didn't hear you. You just wanted to get it out of your chest. Neither did you mind if a green-haired male with freckled cheeks heard your words as clear as day. Walking past him with a gentle smile on your face, he started wide with the new knowledge he had accustom with no real reason than to bear witness.
You took your place next to your trusted friend. His eyes brighten at the sight of you by his side.
"I am glad you made it" he whispered to her absorbing the warm feeling as you smiled brightly at his direction. Why he was so contented with you giving your smile to him... And only him. Had him baffled, but he had no time to dwell on such.
Shinsō has a goal and he shares this same goal with you. So he was gonna give it his all.
"The second game is...!"
