Chapter 40: Secrets Revealed

The day was at its peak of climax. With the crowd fueled with excitement for the events of the festival in the large coliseum imitation the school provided for the students. Being presented as heroes and warriors of the future, the students were put to the highest of expectations by the people of the public and the senior heroes that have once stood where these children stand now.

Standing in the arena of concrete, two students faced each other with steadfast expressions and determined souls. "You look rather pleased with yourself, (Y/N)-san" mused the black bird head of a student from class 1A. The top class of the 1st high school year in UA.

Witha hearty giggle, you replied as sweetly as you always. "I am!" you chirped still not over the smoothly silk words of your handsome red and white-haired brother of yours, "I will give it my bestest, Tokoyami-kun! Beware cause you haven't seen my limits yet!"

"I am ecstatic for this battle, (Y/N)-san" Tokoyami replied with a bird smile on his yellow beak feeling a bit carefree for reasons he couldn't understand. But he had the slightest hints that the culprit of his unusual ease came from the lovely lady before him.

"Alrighty! For the next battle of the second half of the tournament!" Present Mic yelled swinging his arms coaxing the crowd once more so cheer for the students. "Once again we have Tokoyami! An unbeatable force with a killer victory streak! Will he accomplish his next victory? Or will that win be taken from him in this very round!?"

"His opponent--! The Todoroki of class 1C! Showing shocking talents, one that may rival the top students in class 1A, is she the hidden underdog? Or does her limit reach here!? Its a question we all want to know!!"

"Oi, sit down" Annoyed by his companion's excessive habit Eraserhead can't do anything but sigh. 'Though that is an interesting question...' he pondered thoughtfully as he stared at the pink-haired student. 'This was a big surprise to have a student that is on par with another from the hero course. Is it because of bad pointers that she didn't make it that high in the leader board? "It's amazing how versatile this student is!" announced a teacher as they observed through the several monitors as the students run a mock gather as many points. As the teacher said so, the screen flashed to show a young pink-haired student who incapacitated the zero pointer of her beta city. "To stop in one go without any collateral damage. That is rather useful!"

'Did she not make the cut?' Eraserhead sigh before grunting in annoyance as Present Mic stood up with his make announcing the battle to commence.

On such command, like the previous battle, (Y/N) shot forward like a bullet whipping through the wind as you pull your fist back with your opponent, Tokoyami as the target. A powerful swing was let out and a large force wave was formed causing a strong gust of wind to push outwards.

But it didn't deter your opponent. Standing as his shield was a dark entity with glowing yellow eyes. Such eyes stared at you with challenging intent causing a big smile to form. With a gasp of surprise, Dark Shadow made quick movements to push you back with a skid that pushed you across the field. Following up with his first attack Dark Shadow lunged at you, influenced by his master to end the fight as quickly as possible pushing you back even more.

'Dark Shadow is fast!' You squeaked as you tumble when he struck again with little time to recover. 'Because Dark Shadow relies on energy I can't identify, he can go on like this for hours!' you worry falling on the ground with a small grunt.

Watching the shadow round about as recoil, you took the chance to stand up and take a deep breath. 'Okay, this is it!' You told yourself concentrating on removing the unconscious lock you placed over yourself for so many years, 'This is what I wanted... This is what I wanted!'

"What's wrong, (Y/N)? I thought you said you are gonna give it your all." Tokoyami surprisingly spoke up, coaxing you to give your everything in this battle. When he received no reply from you, he quickly sent Dark Shadow for another attack. He was underestimating you, but it didn't bother you since it was a normal event for you. Perhaps this is due to the secret you have been hiding from him. From everyone else.

Bakugo gawked as the smoke sizzle to the sky watching your solemn face as you stare at it as if you were ashamed of it. He couldn't believe you held such power to yourself and didn't use it. If he thinks it over. He would come to realize that it may be enough to get you into class 1A, if ever the transfer rumor, Shinso spoke about, was true.

"That move..." He mumbled still in a daze causing you to giggle at his funny face.

"It's not only yours I can do," you admit as the air turn cold with little snowflakes dancing in the wind before they disappear for the red flowers to blaze in appearance and form.

"As long as I have absorbed the energy from a person, I can do what they do..." You told him with an honest smile. "I wanted to talk about this to someone... I wanted to use this for the sports festival but..."

"Why are you holding back stupid?" Bakugo says walking up to you with a scrunched up face. "Why are you not giving your all when everyone else is working so hard to do what they want!"

His words halted you but you smiled in confusion, telling him, "That's unusual... Most people would be happy that a power like this is held back. It's so that they can have a chance to be better."

"I can't be the best if I can't beat the better, now can I?"

"You think I am better?"

"Of course not!" Bakugo barked looking away with a twinge of pink but muttered after a short pause, "...But you are something to be wary of." hearing him compliment you in such a way only he can, brought you with so much joy. You couldn't help but smile in gratitude.

"You better use that in the matches," he says causing you to worry. "But I never used this part of my quirk before... I don't like to use it without permission... It's like stealing..."

"Well then steal away!"

"But..."

Bakugo sighed, 'Shitty good girl.' He thought with a grumble before poking your forehead, "Look if you're that much of a goody-two-shoes then use mine,"

"Are you sure?" You squeaked as he roughly rubs on your head, "Well use others if you really need it! I don't care with what you do." he said so but his concentration on such confidential topics you both are sharing eased you to know he wanted the best of the problem. With a determined nod, you told to him, "Then I will use it...."

A loud rupture echoed in the stadium causing eyes to widen in pure shock. As the signature smoke rises into the sky, the flames dance in such a violent way, it sent the dark entity flying back with the amount you of power you released in your punch.

Back in the stands, a blonde with bright red eyes smirked widely at the scene below him.

"This will probably be the first quirk I use in an official battle" is what the kind girl said to him. It sent a fuzzy feeling in his belly that he cannot deny. The feeling of being the first is a great compliment, he doesn't know if he should take such positively or not. "Hey Bakugo," his blonde classmate started with a curious look ruining the good mood he felt moments ago.

"That is your quirk, right?" asked Kaminari who looked unsure as to if he was seeing things. Without a problem, Bakugo replied, "Yeah, so?"

"Did Todoroki-chan copy your quirk?" his female classmate with green hair asked. A finger to her lips as she along with her seatmates ponder, "Is it something like Monoma's quirk?" they wonder. But Bakugo scoffed at their confusion, looking at Shoto at the corner of his eyes with a hardened stare.

"She's borrowing it," he sharply replied which was mostly aimed for the twin of said girl.

"And you're aware that she can freely use mine?" Shoto replied feeling compared and threatened. This leads to a heated glare between the two males which caused their class to worry about them, but all attention was soon captured at the girl leaped in the air with a fist aimed for her opponent.

"The real battle starts now!"
