The second I knew the door closed behind me, I let it go. I was so tired and so sick of all mysupposed friends making my life worse that I just couldn't handle it anymore.
Taking note that Derek's car was locked and he was still in the resteraunt, probably apologizing, I sunk down onto the ground and just cried. Coping mechanisms were not my forte so I just sat there while the people in the resteraunt probably took note of the weirdest girl in town.
"Hey." Derek said finally walking up. His hand was stretched outward and I took it picking myself up from the ground. He opened my door and helped me in. "As angry as I am at you for not telling me about this, I feel bad and really just want to work this out."
"You don't get it Derek it doesn't work out!" I raised my voice as I buckled my seatbelt. "It never ever works out for me. I probably never be back in Jersey ever again for all I know, it just doesn't work." I let a tear fall down my face. "I'm so sick of the stress of trying to keep everyone happy when all my efforts fail anyway. I can't please anyone and regardless of whether or not we choose to keep our relationship after I leave, it's never going to work." I took a deep breath and looked at Derek, who remained completely still pondering his thoughts.
"You really are a different girl Kalen." He smirked slightly without taking his eyes off the road. "I like that about you, but I don't even know what else to say right now. I guess this is the end." His voice faded away to the point where he was almost mumbling.
"okay then." I mumbled seeing as there really wasn't a better option for this situation. "I guess there's really no point in arguing. It's hopeless."
"But god dammit, we are gonna spend each and every one of these nine days making sure you have the time of your life." He smiled and looked over at me.
"Thank you." I whispered.
" I'm all yours for the next week and a half soo...." He smirked.
"If that's the case, I really don't want to go home right now. Let's do something wild." I smiled as I rolled down the window. The fresh air slapped my face but in a pleasant way. It was exhilarating.
"You, wild?" He said as his lips curled into a slight smile."Where to?"
"I just want to dance." I smiled and pressed the button to the sunroof. Planting my feet on the center console I stood out the roof and just took a deep breath. I could handle this, I just had to let everything go and just relax.
Derek pulled his car into an empty parking lot and stopped. Seizing the opportunity I jumped up and sat on the top of his car. "Coming?"
"You really are crazy." He laughed slightly coming through the sun roof.
"and you aren't?" I giggled.
"So what are we gonna do it's only 7:30" He smiled at me. I layed down onto my back and stared at the stars. Knowing they were the same stars that hung over California made me feel better. Maybe it really wasn't that far away, and then again maybe I'm just not meant to date. I was slightly okay with that at this point. "How about we just lie here?" Derek said laying down.
"I'm okay with that. " I smiled and began to clear my mind.
"Wait...I have a better place." Derek said and slipped back into the car. He drove a couple of blocks but stopped in front of a large building.
