There weren't enough adjectives in the English language to describe this unbelievably
life ruining boy. He was cold, insensitive, hard-headed, vein, at times heartless, and many other things. He was the biggest jerk to me. He ruined my Summer, my fall, and my life. I had let him in and regretted every second since. He broke down the walls I had put up to protect myself, and introduced me to everything new. He taught me how to live and love the moment. He cared for me when I couldn't care for myself. He was sweet, charming, hunky, inspiring, funny, exhilarating, vivacious, lovable, and many other incandescent words. He loved me and I think I still loved him.

"How about we get lunch tomorrow?"Mikey said as we all finished up our gift exchange. Looking over at him I thought it over. It didn't seem like a smart idea. "Just as friends....that's all." He added. Still cautious I held my words. "I just want to talk to you before you leave."

"We are talking." I said innocently smiling. He smirked and moved his hand over to touch my arm but stopped.

"You know what I mean." He whispered as the background noise died out. Everyone had finished laughing over one of Vinny's witty comments. Someone hearing this conversation was not going to help anything.

"Tomorrow's Christmas Mikey. There is no where to even get lunch. " I said fiddling with the wrapping paper on my present.

"Oh right......Friday?" He said while slapping Jason for stealing his present.

"Oh alright...but only as friends Mikey" I smiled at him just to make matters easier."......that's all." I said and finished opening the present.

"Alright who's up for a game of call of duty?" Jason yelled over everybody.

"As much as I'd like to kick all of your asses, I think I'm gonna go home and be with my family." I said giggling and picked up my belongings.

"Bye?" Alexis said confused.

"It was nice seeing you without Derek for once." Vinny said not meaning any harm but I have to admit it stung a little. My friends just didn't see me the same anymore.

I forced a smile Vinny's way and waved to everybody else.

"Hey wait." Mikey said grabbing onto my arm with his cold hand. "Let me walk you out." His voice made me tremble and his smile still slightly felt like a knife cutting through my heart. It wasn't as sharp as before but sometimes a dull knife hurts worse.

"ooh." Sarah whispered unfortunately not quiet enough. I really wanted to give her a glance but avoiding that scene I walked up the stairs.

As soon as we walked out the door Mikey turned so that he was facing me. His dark eyes capturing mine in their grip. I wanted so badly to look away but couldn't. I just wished he'd speak so we could get this over with. It was freezing outside and being as smart as I was, I forgot my coat. There was never a need for one in California, so the quicker the better. His eyes were still awkwardly glued on mine as I folded my arms trying to conjure some heat.

"It was nice seeing you." Mikey smiled.

"You...you too." My lips trembled with the cold air. I was just gonna go with this conversation.

"Listen-" He began and I knew he was going to say something that I'd regret letting him walk me out for. He was going to mention Derek, or California or something I was so sick and tured of hearing, but he paused trying to gather something to say. "See you on Friday." He said in place of his original thought.

"Bye." I smiled and walked on my way. Boy that was awkward.

"oh and don't forget a coat." He smiled and walked back inside.
