-intro-

Ava stood in her cell in the lab, looking for any ways to distract the guards patrolling 24/7. She had been in this tiny cell for far too long now, and she longed to be out in the outside world again.

She didn't know much about the situation she was in, as the guards refused to speak with her most of the time. And when they did answer her questions, their answers were almost unintelligible because of the way they formed their sentences.

She figured they were all related at first, judging by the fact that they all looked identical, but she soon learnt that they were in no way near human and were just using suits. If only she knew exactly what her kidnappers were.

There was plenty of life in the cells around her, but none humanlike. It ranged from tiny electric worms to huge flying elephants shooting acid from their trunks. Some creatures she couldn't even recognize, but she knew better than to ask about them.

The guards called her 'the project which must be protected' and they often injected her with syringes full of strange neon liquids. Some hurt, some made her feel high and some had no effect at all. Once she saw a brain-like creature speaking broken English and crawling out of the stomach of a guard. She was obviously freaked out, but believed it to be one of the liquids making her hallucinate.

She didn't know how long she had been in there, but she deemed it to be long enough. 'If someone doesn't come and rescue me very soon I'm going to find a way to break out myself.' she thought solemnly, leaning her head against the cold glass of the wall.

At the lair

The turtles were all sitting around at the dinner table along with April, discussing the next mission. It was a rather heated discussion.

"What do you mean the kraang have a huge lab here in New York?!" Leonardo shrieked in frustration at Donatello, who had brought it up. "I thought we destroyed their lab and portal back in TCRI!"

Donatello was the only one who seemed sort of calm, but even he started getting irritated. "Well, if you hadn't interrupted me when I was telling you about it then maybe you wouldn't have so many questions.." he sighed, but continued when no one else had anything to say. "From what I could understand from my translations, the kraang had started building this underground lab way long before infiltrating the TCRI."

Michelangelo looked confused as all hell, but Raphael just seemed pissed. "Well, if they already had a working lab before why would they need another hiding place?" he asked, frustration clear in his voice.

Donatello swallowed and chose his next words carefully, since he really didn't feel like upsetting Raph. "That's just the thing! The underground lab wasn't working as well as they thought it would, and they became desperate. As soon as they heard about the TCRI having empty upstairs floors they took their chance. But as I said, it's been a few years now and their technology has advanced drastically, given the time difference between earth and dimension x. When we destroyed their base at TCRI they went back to their old lab, and it obviously worked a lot better this time."

After his little speech the rest of the turtles and April looked bored, yet also concerned.

"So.. what do we do now? And what are they doing down there?" April asked, her voice wavering.

Leonardo put both of his hands on the table and leaned in closer to the others. "Alright, this is what we do. We leave at 1 AM tonight, and we sneak into the lab to see what's going on down there. We won't attack unless necessary, we're only there to observe. Everyone understood?" he made eye contact with everyone in the room to make sure they understood what he said.
