I stood on a rectangular dirt field inside a building. In front of me was a woman with dark skin and teal hair. She had a soft yet stern voice.
"Alright, this is a three-on-three battle. When either all of the gym leaders or challenger's pokemon are unable to battle, the match will be decided. Additionally, both sides can make substitutions."
The woman held out her pokeball and threw it.
"Let's go, lillipup!"
Out came a furry brown pokemon that stood on all fours and was about the same height as me. Its trainer spoke again.
"You have the first move! Show me what you've got!"
I heard my trainer chuckle slightly and then gave me orders.
"Use Leaf Tornado!"
I started gathering energy by spinning around and launched a mass of spinning leaves at the other pokemon. My opponent countered by ejecting a ball of black and purple energy from its mouth. Both attacks collided and caused a small explosion, filling the battlefield with dust. There wasn't any letup, however.
"Lillipup, use Takedown!"
My opponent started barreling towards me.
"Grab it with Vine Whip!"
I released the vines from my collar and lunged out of the way. When my opponent sailed past me, I wrapped my vines around it. The momentum put a strain on them and I slid a couple of inches.
"Slam it!"
I raised the other pokemon over my head and threw it at the ground. My vines retracted from my competitor and went back into my collar.
"Finish it with Leaf Tornado!"
I summoned the spinning leaves and threw them at the lillipup who was still on the ground. A small cloud of dust was kicked up during the impact. When it dissipated, I found that my opponent was knocked out.
