"Of course, I'll make them yes or no questions. That means you can either nod or shake your head. I'll give you one now: do you have a trainer?"
I could feel Mareep's and Litwick's uneasiness and felt it leaching into me. Was I supposed to answer this woman's question or keep still? I figured that we could just book it if the moment arose, and the woman seemed nice. She was asking a direct question, and who was I to ignore her? I looked her in the eye and nodded.
"Okay, thank you for answering. I figured the three of you were much less skittish compared to wild pokemon. Is your trainer nearby?"
I shook my head.
"Are they in this city?"
Another shake.
"I see..did you three get lost?"
A third shake.
"Did you sneak out?"
I silently flinched at Rose's answer. How did she figure out so quickly? Was she going to find and tell Beth? What was she going to do with us?
"Please do not worry, I'm not going to do anything to you guys. I'm sure you have a good reason to come out here, but I am concerned about how you will be able to get back. Do you know how?"
I thought for a second and recalled how we got here. As long as I could get to the place with the fountain, I was sure I could get out of the city. I nodded my head confidently.
"Okay. Once again, thank you for answering. I'm asking these questions because I'm concerned about you. It's getting pretty late and this city can become quite dangerous once it reaches a certain time."
Looking back at Litwick and Mareep, I became concerned if they would be able to handle themselves. If I could handle myself. I got off from the chair and motioned for the others to do the same.
"If you are going to leave, please be safe. I'll be in this city, so if you come here again feel free to visit. I'll be here to help."
I looked back at Rose, eye to eye. She still had the same smiling, neutral expression from when she first came up to us. I nodded, and we head out the door.
