Chapter 32 - Demons

*Tzuyu's Pov*

You promised, okay. I remind Mingyu as he locks the door and turns towards me, a frown appearing on his face.

Tzu! He groans, his hand grabbing mine as he practically drags me away.

Don't even think of taking your words back, Kim Mingyu. I pinch his arm with my free hand and he jumps away from me, his hand leaving mine.

I WON'T! Rolling his eyes, Mingyu pouts and murmurs a number of curses as we walk together, heading to school.

Mingyu promised me he'll go see a therapist this Saturday which seems to be approaching us with full speed. I want him to feel normal. It doesn't matter if he is or not. I just don't want him to think he is not.

Hey...Let's get something to eat? I ask Mingyu, stopping in front of Mrs. Kim's shop.

Mingyu glanced inside the shop to find his mother staring at us before his eyes met mine, just when he was about to reply, out of nervousness, I took my lower lip in between my teeth, biting it. He coughed before looking away from me and visibly gulped.

What the....

Without a reply, he walks inside the store. A smile forms on my face as I follow him inside and give a heart-warming smile to aunt who returns it to me.

What you wanna get? I ask Mingyu, my eyes looking through various things.

When I didn't get a reply, I glanced at Mingyu to find his eyes fixed on something. I followed his gaze to find a family picture hanging on the wall. One that I have noticed many times. He looks so happy in it.

Mingyu looks so happy.

Mingyu's dad, the old looking man I assume, has Mingyu in his arms as he looked at him with his eyes sparkling and Mingyu's eyes were fixed on his father's while aunt had her hands wrapped around Mingyu's sister's waist, a happy smile situated on her lips. Mingyu's sister had the same smile that the others had, her eyes looked like she was rolling her eyes at her family.

When I first saw this picture years ago, the first thing I thought was of how beautiful the girl in this photo is. She had beautiful features and held a different kind of charm. As for the little boy in the picture, I didn't thought much about it. Now looking at it, I can see how much that little boy grew up without that beautiful girl by his side.

A pain settles in my chest, realising the girl doesn't exist in this world anymore. It makes me wonder, how can someone not love her?

Wha-- Oh, that! We took it on Mingyu's tenth birthday. Aunt informs us, I turn to look at her then I glanced at Mingyu, they both had a smile on their faces. Even though the smile on Mingyu's face was barely visible but it was there.

He was always a father's boy. And his sister, a mother's girl. Minnie always used to say--- Mingyu flinched at the mention of the name “Minnie” which I assume belongs to his sister as he cuts his mother off and speaks,

Dad loves her more than me and I always cried. That's when he took me in his arms and that's exactly when this photo was taken. The smile was long gone and sorrow replaced it.

Yeah, you were always a father's boy. You know Tzu-----

That's enough. Mingyu cuts his mother off who was just about to tell me more about him being a father's boy, the smile on her face now mirroring Mingyu's expression as he walked out the store without another word.
