Tessas POV

"They've been outside talking for awhile now haven't they." Anastasia smiles.

She pours two glasses of wine, handing one of the glasses to me.

I take a sip.

"I wonder what they're talking about."

"Well let's hope they're just catching up and not killing each other." Anastasia laughs.

"Mommy, Phoebe keeps taking my trucks." The little boy, Theodore rugs on his moms cardigan. He scrunches up his face and crosses his arms.

"Baby what did we talk about sharing. Why don't you two play together?"

"But I had the truck first." Theodore whines.

"Well if you can't play nice with your sister then we're going to be all done with the trucks, okay?"

The little boy turns around and walks into the other room.

Anastasia rolls her eyes.

"Sorry about that. Theodore is still learning the whole sharing thing." She lets out a tiny laugh.

"It's okay."

The front door opens and Hardin and Christian walk in. Christian walks into the kitchen and leans in to kiss Anastasia. She smiles, taking another sip of wine.

Hardin walks into the kitchen taking a seat next to me. He looks at me and smiles.

"You guys have fun out there?" Anastasia raises her eyebrows.

"We were just talking don't worry. We were — catching up." Christian looks at Hardin and smiles.

Theodore runs into the kitchen

"Daddy, Phoebe keeps taking my trucks and I don't want to play with her." He hangs on to Christians arm.

"What did mommy say?" Christian lifts the boy onto his lap.

"She said I have to share. But Phoebe doesn't want to play the game I'm playing. So I don't want to share." He crosses his arms and pouts in his fathers lap.

Christian taps him on the shoulder leans down to whisper in his ear.

Theodore looks up at me and then at Hardin.

"My names Theodore. What's your name?"

Hardin looks at me waiting for me to answer.

"My name is Tessa. This is Hardin." I say looking back at Hardin and smiling.

"Are you guys married? My mommy and daddy are married.

"Were not married

"Were not married." I give a little laugh, Hardin rolls his eyes.

"Oh."

Theodore turns to Hardin.

"Are you going to marry her?"

Christian takes ahold of Theodores hand and leads him into the other room.

"Theodore why don't you go play with phoebe."

Theodore whines to his dad as they walk into the other room.

Anastasia smiles looking at Hardin and I.

"I'm so sorry about that. Theodore likes to ask a lot of questions."

Hardin shakes his head, taking my hand.

I smile at him rolling my eyes.

"This is your cabin?" Hardin changes the subject, looking around the kitchen.

"We bought it last year. We wanted somewhere to get away from the busy city. This seemed like the perfect place." Anastasia smiles.

Hardin looks down and falls silent.

I glance over at him and then back at Anastasia who is looking at Hardin too.

"It's a very lovely place." I break the silence.

"Thank you." Anastasia smiles, glancing back at Hardin.

He looks up, running his fingers through his hair.

"Yeah." He says quietly.

"Are you okay there Hardin?" Anastasia asks.

"Huh?" Hardin says caught off guard. "Umm yeah I'm fine." He lies.

"Let me show you guys where you'll be staying for the weekend. It's just right down the hall."

Anastasia leads us out of the kitchen and past the living room.

She opens the door and steps inside.

"The bathroom is just right down the hall. I've set some towels out as well. I'll leave you two alone then." She smiles and walks out.

I look at Hardin who walks around the room looking up and down taking in the room.

"What's wrong?" I walk over to him.

"I don't want to be here anymore Tessa. I can't do this." He says softly, His jaw clenched.

"I thought you were going to try and forgive your brother. Come on baby let's just have some fun." I rub his arm.

"I forgive him. I just — this place — my mum lives in this tiny house, it's falling apart — he's here living this extravagant life. It just isn't fair. He owes her." Hardin walks over to the bed and sits down on the edge.

He leans forward resting his elbows on his knees.

I take a seat next to him.

"It's going to take some time. You're still angry. But you have to try and get past it. I know it's hard baby." I place my hand on top of his hand and he interlocks his fingers with mine.

He takes a deep breath.

"If you want to we can go back home. But I think it would be best if you talked to him." I rest my head on his shoulder.

He looks at me, our faces touching. He plants a kiss on my forehead.

"I love you Tessa. I don't know what I would do without you."

I smile. "I love you."

We scoot up onto the bed and lay down, my body nestled into his, his arm wrapping around my waist.

I can only hope this weekend goes as planned. I know Hardin has so much anger towards his brother still, I'm just hoping he holds that anger in and talks to his brother civilly. He's changed so much, he's been through so much. I can only hope he doesn't fall back into the darkness and let his demons take control again.
