Hardin's POV

Christian walks down the stairs and sighs.

I'm sitting on the couch, my legs stretched out in front of me. I rest my arm on the back of the couch.

Christian takes a seat on the chair next to me.

"Congratulations. I heard you finally asked Tessa to marry you." Christian says, giving me a smile.

I look up at him and nod.

"Yeah I did."

"I thought you were never getting married?" Christian asks.

"I didn't — not until I met Tessa... I love her." I smirk.

"I know you do. I knew it the first time I saw you two together." Christian smiles at me.

"She makes me a better person. She — she makes this dark world so much brighter, I can't lose her. I'm tired of being in the dark."

"I get it. That's how Anastasia made me feel."

"Is she the reason you got sober?" I ask.

I stopped drinking for Tessa. After seeing the way she flinched, thinking I was going to hurt her. It felt like everything inside of me was being crushed. I would never hurt her, I could never hurt her. Not physically. I hurt her so much emotionally that was enough to be better for her.

"I got sober because I didn't want to hurt my family anymore. After what I did to you and mum — it took me a few years but I wanted to get sober because I didn't like the person I was before."

Authors Notes

Sorry this chapter is so short. I've had writers block for like 4 days. To everyone still reading this story thank you. I love this story and this concept so much. The after series and fifty shades of grey are my top favorite books / movies. I love the story line so much.
