Chapter 42

Tessa's POV

"Were just going to have dinner with Vance and Kimberly. Smith says he misses you." I say.

Hardin stops at the red light ahead and looks at me.

"I'm not the biggest fan of Vance either right now. His timing is terrible." Hardin rolls his eyes.

"Just be on your best behavior got it." I say pointing my finger at Hardin.

"Fine fine. But only because you owe me when we get home." He smirks at me.

He reaches over and squeezes my thigh. I let out a shriek and swat Hardin on the arm.

We pull up to the house and park the car. We get out and walk to the front door. Vance and Kimberly greet us and we head into the living room.

"Did you bring me any books?" Smith walks into the room.

"Well hello to you too little brother." Hardin chuckles.

"Hi Hardin." Smith rolls his eyes.

Kimberly looks at me and motions me into the kitchen.

I excuse myself and follow Kimberly.

"Anastasia just texted me. She said they will be here in a few minutes. Did you tell Hardin?" She whispers.

"No he doesn't know. Are you sure this is going to work?" I ask.

"I'm just hoping no one gets into a fight tonight." She says half laughing and half serious.

"You and me both." I roll my eyes.

The doorbell rings and we hear footsteps going to the door, followed by the sounds of Anastasia and Christian.

We walk back into the living room where Christian, Anastasia, Hardin and Vance stand in silence.

"Smith how about you go into your room for a little bit. Let the boys talk." Kimberly says.

"There's nothing to talk about. Tessa we're leaving." Hardin walks towards the door.

"Hardin please. Just talk to Christian." I say.

"Why don't us girls go into the kitchen. I'm sure we can all use a glass of wine." Kimberly says looking at Anastasia and I.

Anastasia and I look at each other and nod our heads, following Kimberly into the kitchen.

I really hope this works. I know Hardin is going to be upset with me when we get home but he needs this. They need this.
