Hardin's POV

I turn into the parking lot and park the car. I turn off the car and rest my head on the steering wheel.

"its one drink. Since when did you get so tense"

Lunch with Christian and Vance plays over and over in my head.

"Here's to a new family." Christian raises his glass to cheers.

I should have never taken that drink with him. If there's one thing I learned from this family, drinking doesn't stop at one drink.

I open the car door and get out. I walk to the lobby of the apartment, nodding to the guy at the front desk.

"Don't be so uptight little brother."

I turn the key and unlock the door to the apartment. Tessas sits on the couch with a book in front of her. She looks up and smiles at me.

"How did lunch go?" She asks, sitting the book on the coffee table.

I throw my keys into the tray on the table next to the door and walk over to Tessa.

I grab her by the hips and pull her close to me. I kiss her long and hard.

She pushes my chest and looks up at me.

"What was that for." She smiles.

"I just love you so much." I say.

She looks at me, studying my face. She smiles.

"Lunch went well then I'm guessing." She kisses me.

Yeah lunch went great. My brother had a drink for the first time in god knows how long. "Celebrating" and me, of all people was against it. Who am I? Don't be so uptight little brother.

"It went good. One happy little family." I lie, smiling at my beautiful girl.

"Well I'm happy for you." She says, pulling me towards the couch.

We take a seat on the couch and Tessa snuggles into my lap. I trace the lines in her hands with my finger.

"What did you guys talk about?"

"Stuff. Vance went through everything that happened and how it happened. My mum wanted to keep it a secret from Ken because she didn't want to hurt him. It was the same bull shit from when he told me." I say.

"Are you okay?" She looks up at me. I look at her and smile.

"Yeah. I mean, it's the same thing I already learned years ago."

"Well I just want to make sure. You've gone through a lot these past few weeks. I just want to make sure you're okay." She smiles.

God I love her.

"I don't deserve you. You know that don't you." I say and kiss her forehead.

"But you have me. That's all that matters. I love you and you know that. Nothing you do can change that." She smiles.

She's right. I thought I lost her with the stupid fucked up bet I made with Zed at that frat party. I didn't know that I would fall in love for Tessa, I thought it was going to be just like the other girls I've been with. But she stuck with me and all my bull shit. I'm so grateful. She is my world.

"You know I would marry you right now if you'd let me." I say.

She looks up at me, surprised on her face.

"Oh is that so. I thought you don't want to get married?" A smile grows on her face.

"I want to be with you for the rest of my life. You know that. Might as well get married. Then you'll have my last name."

It's true

It's true.

"And who would plan this whole wedding?"

"You of course. You're the best wedding planner in Seattle." I laugh.

She quiet for a moment, a smile on her face while she thinks.

"Are you proposing to me Mr. Scott?"

"No. I need a ring first." I smile.

She looks at me, melting my heart all over again. I roll her over onto the couch and kiss her. I am going to marry this girl, I promise you that. There's no one else I want to spend my life with other than Tessa.
