"Sam. You've gotta get up."
Sam woke up, due to being shook by his mom.
"Huh?" He asked, turning from his side to his back as he tried to adjust his eyes to the bright light that lit his bedroom.
"You have to get up. School starts in 20 minutes." His mom answered, moving away from the bed.
"Shit!" He jumped up from his bed, running over to his closet to find his outfit for the day.
"Sam! Language!" Yelled his mom, trying to hold back the laughter that laid in her throat.
"Sorry, mom!" He said, heading toward the bathroom just outside his door.
He put on a pastel yellow hoodie with white skinny jeans, white no-show socks, and his yellow checkered Vans.
Once he got out of the bathroom, he ran downstairs, grabbed his backpack that laid on the kitchen counter, and ran out the door.
As he started to run faster towards the school, a memory flooded back.
"Come on, Sam. You've gotta pick up your pace." Said Colby, slowing down so that he could catch up.
"I'm trying." Sam replied, lying as he knew he could run faster.
"No you're not. You can run faster than that." Colby sighed at his stubborn boyfriend.
"You sure about that? I bet if we were to race, you would win."
"Oh really? Okay. Let's go."
"Okay. How much?" Answered the blonde, smirking a mischievous smirk that Colby knew all too well.
"A penny." Colby said, returning that same smirk as he sped up.
"Okay." Sam sped up too, running faster and further than Colby.
"See? Told you so!" Colby heaved, laughing.
"Yep!" Sam yelled back, laughing as he made it to the school.
He had tears flowing down his cheeks once he finally got to the front of the building.
He walked in, went to his locker, then got his books and binders out for the classes he had before lunch.
He slammed his locker shut, and walked towards his first class.
He felt another memory come flooding, knowing he would start crying, he ran into the bathroom.
He set his books on the sink and went into a stall.
He locked the door and sat on the toilet seat, holding his knees up to his face as he sobbed.
"Why? Why d-does this h-happen? Why can't the memories j-just go away and leave me alone? Why can't Colby j-just leave?"
He said to himself, stuttering.
"Why?"
