*Couple of days earlier*

Sam continued crying until he got a notification on his phone.

Mom- Hey, honey. The school called and said you weren't there today. Is everything okay?

Sam smiled, knowing his mom was worried.

Sam- Yeah. I'm fine. I was there, but the memories of Colby and I came back again today.

He put his phone down, crying more until he got another text a few minutes later.

Mom- Okay. I'll just tell them you're sick or something. Just don't go missing school everyday. You have 1 more week until you graduate.

Sam- Holy crap. Really?

He typed in his message, wondering if his mom was right as he hit the home button.

He opened his calendar app and looked at the date.

May 25th, 2019

"Holy shit. She's right." He muttered to himself, opening up his messages to Colby again.

Sam- Hey, Colbs. Guess what? I only have one more week until I finally graduate with my degree! Can you believe that?! I wish you could be here.

Colby always left him on delivered, but he didn't care.

At least the messages were sent, right?

Sam put his phone down, starting to cry more.

That is, until he got a message he didn't think he would receive.

POV change•

~One year earlier~

Colby had been at school for almost four years, trying and trying to text Sam, but the messages wouldn't go through.

The only reason is because his "friend" Brennen, completely shattered his phone, inside and out.

So since it didn't work anymore, Colby gave up.

He would've got a new phone, but he spent all of his allowance money he got from home on college.

The brunette only had a part-time job, so he didn't make as much money.

Even if he did have enough money for his own house, he couldn't pay for his utilities.

So he stayed at a Brennen's house.

He didn't try heibphone because he knew he would get mad at him.

With Brennen, it got to the point to where he would hurt him.

Colby was making dinner, like always.

He turned on the burner to the stove so the corn could heat up and walked over to the fridge to get the milk out when he accidentally knocked a jar of pickles off of the shelf.
