4 months later......

Lex had given up. She'd given up on waiting, she'd given up on her feelings, she'd given up that he'd survived. She was an empty shell. She couldn't eat or sleep. She would stay up all night and curse herself and her heart. She'd decided to leave the cabin. She couldn't stay there. She couldn't live there in their memories. There were too many memories....so many she couldn't find solace. She'd moved to Chicago, well Mokena. She needed a change. She started giving lectures on mountain climbing and how to be a successful guide in Chicago at the Omni Hotel. She didn't lecture often. Only a couple of times a month.

Downtown Chicago was lovely. Especially eating along the Chicago River. She would walk along the lakefront and she visited the Shed Aquarium and the Field Museum at least twice a month. She ate at Giordano's at least once a month. She normally didn't like cities or people but she needed the distraction in a major way.

She loved Mokena. It was quiet. Her home sat on about 4 acres. There was a lake that she looked out onto, it was peaceful and beautiful but it did nothing to fill the void in her heart. The house was empty. She often thought about dating, just to distract herself but the actual thought disgusted her! She would think it was ironic. Scar........by human standards, he was not attractive but how could he be!? He was an alien. He looked so different. In all honesty he looked like a reptile with a face that would frighten the average person. She'd had sex with him. She would tell herself she was disgusting for ever sleeping with him.....an alien. Was she that desperate? She was that desperate and lonely......she'd already left the U.S. once and gone back to the cabin, looking for any signs that he'd been there. She'd waited there for over a week. She had to force herself to leave.

How was it possible to feel so much grief?

Anger was the only element that flowed through his veins. His ship was damaged and during the course of his inspections and analysis he'd discovered that there was physical damage as well. He had the newly blooded males with him and he couldn't focus for his anger was blinding him. He'd been traveling for months, endless tortuous cycles...The nearest outpost was finally 3 cycles away. He would use the time to repair his ship, it would only take a day once they arrived. He would work non stop. He would probably jump his ship all the way back to Earth. He couldn't hyper-jump now, he'd tried everything to repair it, this 4 month expedition was the last thing he ever expected! He'd tried to plan for any and all emergencies or disasters. He was going to fix his ship, charge the cells and leave.

Lex.......his mind hurt everyday. He thought of her and the disappointment she must be feeling, it literally made him ache. He barely left the central command centre except to train or visit her aquatic friend. The organism seemed to constantly look for her, swimming away dolefully. Scar kept his ship at full speed, the damage only allowed half of what full speed was. He wanted to push his ship as hard as he could. He longed to inject himself with a sedative and sleep through his misery. For days the only solace he had was her scent on his fingers. He daydreamed of her...his mind always went to their last kiss and embrace. His hand in her pants and his finger inside of her. He thought of his hands roaming and squeezing her body! Her wet mouth.... Her moans and her fingers pulling his tendrils. For days, weeks, months, his arousal caused him much suffering and heartache!

Scar knew she was positively irate! Most of all, he knew she was devastated. His promise to return in 5 cycles......the explosion at the pyramids. He knew she must have gone through a plethora of conflicting emotions and thoughts. He knew she was still experiencing hurt 4 months later and that it must be tearing her apart because he was being torn apart as well.

He would train everyday during this 4 months. Nelkir and Fuldex had improved their skills tremendously. Going up against Scar was terrifying. Scar was brutal and relentless. His strength had increased and the two young blooded males found themselves frightened to death of him, even though they themselves were blooded. They were grateful to train with him but they knew and finally understood why his reputation was such as it is. Scar was menacing, deadly and lethal. He was truly maniacal when he thought of his separation from Lex.
