Part 1
"Rachel and Kiran. The two royals that disobeyed their families and ran away from their homes to be together. They're you two, aren't they?"
We both turned to look at her.
My smile faltering a bit before returning quickly.
"What are you talking about?" I asked innocently.
She smirked a bit.
"I got it right, didn't I? Your reaction says it all," Y/N replied.
"Don't say anything," I whispered to Rachel.
My smile turned into a smirk, and I took a step towards her.
"So what if we are? Our families are dead, so what does it matter to you?" I leaned in towards her face and whispered in her ear.
"You shouldn't become too curious about our past. It has nothing to do with you," I said and took a few steps back.
A few hundred years ago...
"Prince Kiran! Get down from there! It's not safe!" the maid shouted from below.
I sat up against the trunk of the tree branch I was on.
My amulet my mother gave to me when I was younger hung from my neck.
It was a golden chain with a large emerald stone attached to it.
It symbolized that I was royalty.
"I do this everyday. It's not like I've suffered from any great injuries. I'm fine," I called out.
"Still! You're the proud son of King Lilas. You're soon going to become king of Elfen, so you shouldn't be so involved with activities like this!" she retorted.
"I'm only 15. Aren't I suppose to be worrying about this when I'm 18?" I groaned.
"Kiran! Stop causing trouble for one of our maids! Come down!"
"Yes, Father," I sighed and jumped down.
"Now, son. Don't be so involved with nature. It has its dangers too," he nagged.
"Yes, Father," I sighed again.
"I'm serious. It's dangerous out in the real world. We've kept you safe in the palace because of that," he said.
He told me this almost everyday. That it was dangerous outside, and I shouldn't be so active.
What a bother.
"It's also about time for you to start choosing a wife. I've prepared some choices for you. Come look," he said, walking away.
"Yes, Father," I groaned.
The maid walked away, and I followed my father.
As he walked past the windows, I stopped.
I walked towards the large windows and opened one of them.
"S-Son? Hey! Where are you going?!" Father exclaimed as I quickly hopped through the open window and onto the dirt floor.
"Not again..." Father sighed.
I ran through the green grass and towards our secret meeting spot.
I panted as I arrived and already saw her waiting there.
"Ray!" I exclaimed and hugged her.
"Oh, hey. I just got here," she replied.
"So did I," I breathed out.
