When he entered Rusturf tunnel he sees Team Snake grunts holding Popeye's Wingull.
"Hey! You swiping my Wingull." Popeye said angrily.
"Oh Yeah! Take us to Slateport City now!" Team Snake grunt A said evilly.
"But why?! You just attempt to take it away like theives." Popeye replied to Team Snake grunt A angrily.
"Do it! Or my poke'mon will attack you immi...." Team Snake grunt A replied back to Popeye forcing him to Take them to Slateport City with the Devon parts that he is holding but ended up by hearing a loud voice.
"Hey! Stop that!" Link shouted as he trying to stop the chaos.
"What was that?!" Team Snake grunt B said angrily hearing that someone is yelling.
Link approches and the two grunts were surprised.
"It's the newbie trainer!" Team Snake grunt said angrily that he remembered him at the Petalburg woods.
"Yeah! That's right! Just tell me what you want?!" Link said and ask to both of them angrily.
"We are going to Slateport City to bring the Devon parts to our boss." Team Snake grunt B said to Link angrily.
"I'm afraid not." Link replied to Team Snake grunt B angrily.
"What?!" Team Snake grunt A said angrily to Link.
"Hey wait Link! You must not face alone. You must have an assistant to battle with you." Sonic said to Link asking that he needs an assistant to battle with him.
"It's the principal from the Rustboro School." Team Snake grunts said surprisingly.
"Yeah! That's right!" Sonic replied to both of them.
Upon his moving forward he sees Popeye being in front so he asks him to step aside.
"Hey! Would you mind to step aside first." Sonic said to Popeye asking him to step aside.
"Uh... Okay." Popeye replied to Sonic to move aside.
Then Sonic asks to both of the Grunts to surrender.
"This is your end! So I command you to surrender!" Sonic said to both of the grunts.
"Never! No one gets Team Snake crosses any mercy especially the newbie trainer that gets in my way!" Team Snake grunt A said to both of them who are ready to fight angrily.
"Oh yeah! Bring it on!" Link said to both of them angrily.
This begins his first coop battle with Sonic.
"Yungoos! Go!" Team Sanke grunt A said senting out a Yungoos.
"Ekans! Go!" Team Snake grunt B said senting out an Ekans.
"Eevee! Come on out!" Sonic said senting out an Eevee.
"Combusken! Go!" Link said senting out an Combusken.
"Okay first. You must equip your Z crystal that you got from the first gym. Which is me. Then second perform the Z move depending on the type you got. And lastly your poke'mon can now obtain its full power and then unleash it's powerful attack." Sonic said to Link teaching him how to use the Z moves in battle.
Sonic performs his Z move and it sends this to Eevee and then unleashes a full power named Breakneck Blitz. and this will send the attack to Ekans. and Ekans took massive damage and it is a one hit K.O. So Ekans fainted.
Then Sonic tells link that it's his turn to perform the Z move that he got from his first gym.
"Okay It's your turn now. Perform the Z move that I did during the fight with Ekans." Sonic said to Link that it's his turn.
"Okay I'll do it." Link replied to Sonic that he'll do it.
Link performs the Z move that Sonic gave him during the first gym battle and then it gives all it's full power to Combusken then it starts unleashing an attack named Breakneck Blitz. and this sends it to Yungoos which he encountered that Team Snake grunt from the Petalburg woods and that takes massive damage to Team Snake grunt A's Yungoos. And also it is a one hit K.O. so Yungoos fainted.
Link's poke'mon gained experience points as well.
Link and Sonic defeated both Team Snake grunts in a one hit K.O.
"It's over? Already..." Team Snake grunt said surprisingly after they see their Z performance and then unleashes their attack to their poke'mon.
"Yeah! Why don't you just give up already?!" Link replied to Team Snake grunt A angrily.
"Impossible!" Team Snake grunt B said angrily after they see this too.
Link received $100 for winning.
"Okay you know what I mean you too!" Team Snake grunt A said angrily blaming them for fainting their poke'mon.
"Yeah you'll be payed by your high leader which is our boss." Team Snake grunt B said angrily.
"Oh, Yeah! Why don't you just give up?!" Link said to both grunts angrily asking them to surrender their plans.
"Never! Remember what we said to you last time before the batt... Hey! What the?!" Team Snake grunt A said to Link angrily that he didn't pay attention but it ended up seeing the cage's base being broken.
Because Popeye managed to eat the spinach while they are fighting against them and why didn't both of the grunts notice that.
"Akkkkkkk! Wingull is mine now." Popeye said happily after getting his Wingull back by breaking the cage's base that the Team Snake grunt A is holding.
"Hey! How did you get that free?!" Team Snake grunt A said angrily to Popeye asking him how did it get that free.
"Oh! Yeah! We gets the Wingull while you gets the rock!" Popeye said to both Team Snake grunts angrily then starts punching them on the face.
Popeye starts punching both grunts on the face and they ended up being hit on the breakable rocks which give the grunts a knock out and then he brings his Wingull back to his house which is at Route 104
"Akkkkkkk! Let's go home Wingull there's nothing to do around here." Popeye said to Wingull going back to his house and sending it home with him at Route 104.
After Popeye left Rusturf tunnel Sonic and Link returns to Rustboro City to make his letter to Frisk and asks him to deliver the Devon parts to Frisk's father named Asgore.
