(Y/N)'s POV
After what seemed like hours of heated arguing with my parents, I felt incredibly exhausted. Like expected, they did not take the whole me going to an art college news very well. They went on and on about how they were esteemed scientists and I have to 'carry on the legacy' and how art will never get me anywhere in life and how I'll eventually come to my senses. Throughout the whole thing, they completely ignored my side of the argument and never considered my feelings.

"You will NEVER go to that damn college and that's final!" They finished the argument with.

"Watch me." I stormed to my room, trying to keep it together and act strong while I was still in their sights.

As I entered my room, I immediately shut the door and locked it. Suddenly my vision became blurry and I couldn't hold in the tears anymore. Reaching for a duffle bag, I silently cried and started packing as much as I could. I don't care what they said, I'm going to that college even if I have to pay for it myself. They may be my parents, but they aren't my legal guardians anymore. I am eighteen. They can't stop me from pursuing my dreams. Nothing can, or so I thought.

Jamie's POV
Hearing a soft knock at my door, I got up from the couch. 'Who could that be this late at night?' I opened the door to a clearly distraught (Y/n). Their eyes were puffy and slightly red. My heart felt heavy to see them so upset, they were like a sibling to me. "C-could I stay here f-for a while?" They said in a shaky voice. I nodded before giving them a hug. (Y/n) wasn't too fond of hugs, but they looked like they really needed it and judging by how they hugged back, I was right.

(Y/N)'s POV
After graduation, Jamie and I hung out in his basement talking about everything that had happened in the last 24 hours. I told him that I wasn't surprised to see that my parents hadn't shown up to my graduation. After I had run away I got a text from them saying that if this is the life I choose, they no longer see me as their child. Good riddance. Jamie was more of a family to me than they ever were.
