Third Person
Perched on a high tree branch, (Y/n)'s brilliant green eyes fluttered shut and their ears tuned into the forest around them. It was surprisingly quiet. As they meditate, a gentle breeze flows through their hair. Blowing it softly. It has now been a week since (Y/n) came to the mansion and already every permanent resident has grown attached to them. Jeff, on the other hand, couldn't care less. But that was expected. At least he wasn't being mean to them for now. Anyways, other than Jeff, no other visitors or semi permanent residents have come to the mansion during their first week, so (Y/n) was starting to become comfortable there.
(Y/n) shifted their seating position on the tree, and started slowly coming out of meditation. As they did, pestering thoughts about their radioactive DNA resurfaced once again. They groaned, really not wanting to think about what they learned yesterday. However, the thoughts about it kept invading their mind.
'Your body's aging has come to a halt. It's unlikely that you'll ever age again.'
This somberly echoed through their head as they recalled the meeting the mansion had yesterday. Slenderman continued on to say that they still might be able to die, but that didn't really make the news any better. (Y/n) didn't want to live forever, that kind of thing weighs down a person over time and (Y/n) knew that.Unfortunately that wasn't the only burden filled news Slender had for them. He wouldn't say how he found this out, because he's persistently secretive, but apparently only twenty five percent of (Y/n)'s radioactive DNA was activated in the explosion. A forth of it was still dormant.
Flashback:
'There are ways to try to activate it more. However, I am still unsure of what the repercussions could be if we tried to raise this percentage. It could hurt you, it could change you into a monster, or it could do nothing. I do not know yet. Plus even if we don't raise the percentage, there's no telling that it won't increase by itself over time.' Slenderman paused, turning his head to (Y/n). They looked like they were barely holding on. 'I have decided that I will give you the choice on whether or not we should activate it more or just wait it out. It is completely your decision." (Y/n) slowly nodded their head. They looked up at the tall faceless Slenderman, their eyes dim with gloom. "I-If there's a way to activate it more, does that mean there's a way to reverse it somehow?" Slender shook his head no. "I'm sorry. Once the changes take place, they become permanent.. but you can take all the time you need to decide what you want to do."(Y/n)'s POV
Snapping myself back into the present, I sighed and leaned my head against the tree trunk. My feet now dangled off the branch I was on. So this is my life now. There's no going back.I thought meditation would help me clear my thoughts and relax for a bit, because it usually helps, but this time I just couldn't. This was just too big of a choice. Deep down, I kind of wished Slender would've just made the decision for me. Then again if he did make the choice for me, I would've been mad. Why is life so complicated?
As I started climbing down the tree, the possible pros and cons raced in my mind. There wasn't much to go off of. We have no idea what could happen. It could make me stronger, it could kill me, there's no telling what raising the percentage could do. Did I have anything to lose if something went wrong?
I jumped off the tree once I was close enough to the ground to not hurt myself and began making my way to the front doors of the mansion. My feet stopped once I reached the door. I knew that if I went back in there, people might expect me to have made a decision. So I stood there, unable to move. Thoughts continuing to race in my head.
It could change me into something I don't want to be, forever. It could hurt me in ways unimaginable. Then again, what did I have to lose? If the percentage might rise by itself, then why not get it over with? But what about those who care about me?.. If this kills me, it could hurt them.
Taking a deep breath, I opened the front door. My mind was made up.
