(Y/n) slowly blinked awake. They pushed the ceiling panel that fell on them off and looked around, dazed. Everything came rushing back. "Jamie!" (Y/n) said as they slowly got to their feet. Every muscle in their body felt sore and they felt like they slept for a month. Little did they know, it really has been a month since the explosion and a little bit of radiation got through the door, not enough to kill them but enough to change them.
(Y/N)'s POV
I slowly made my way up the stairs listening to the deafening silence around me. 'Why is it so quiet.. what even happened?' Thoughts raced through my head as I opened the door to the stairs. My heart instantly sank. Laying in front of me was the decaying body of my best friend. Tears came streaming down my face as I stared in disbelief. "Jamie.." I dropped to my knees, sobbing. I felt like my world had shattered, ripped apart. The person I loved and cared about the most is gone.
~time skip~
I exit Jamie's house, wiping my tear stained cheeks. I gazed somberly around at the destruction before me. Several houses looked like they, at one point, caught fire, some houses looked like they'd been blown to pieces, and others just looked worn down.
Noticing my reflection on a shattered window, I got closer to get a better look at myself. My hair was messy, my clothes were a bit ripped, and my skin looked much paler than usual, but that's not what freaked me out. What freaked me out were my eyes. They were a completely different color. My eyes were a bright yellowish green.
I blinked in disbelief and shook my head. "N-no.. maybe it's the lighting.." I decided to not dwell on it, I could just be seeing things.
Unknown POV
Standing on a hill by the town ruins, my blood red eyes land upon something moving. "A person?" That cannot be possible. I glare in their direction. "Hm.." That's definitely a person. A survivor? That's highly unlikely, but could happen. Deep in thought, I retreated into the forest to go spread the news.(Y/n)'s POV
I walked through the town, seeing bodies everywhere. It was horrible. I couldn't see one person who was still alive. Tears ran down my face as I continued to look around.Feeling increasingly overwhelmed with grief, I couldn't take it anymore. I sprinted as fast as I could into the forest by the town and I kept running. Tripping on a root of a tree, I fall forwards. Tears continued to fall as I curled up into a ball, not even bothering to get up. "Wh-why? Why didn't I just die there with the others? Was I the only one to survive?"
Hearing a twig snap nearby, I sat straight up. A male figure with shaggy brown hair, goggles, and a mouth mask stared at me. "M-max said y-you'd be here.."
