(Y/N)'s POV
"Wanna watch a movie?" Jamie asked. We were in the basement again. Two days have passed since I ran away, and I do not regret it one bit. "Definitely, what movie though?" Jamie shrugged and searched through Netflix. He stopped at the horror category. "How about some horror?" He asked looking at me, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Do you even have to ask?" I replied with the same eagerness. We both loved horror ever since we were kids and we often bond over that.

Jamie picked a movie that we hadn't seen yet and started to play it, but then quickly paused it. "Wait! We need snacks!" He said jumping up from his seat. I smiled at him and nodded. He quickly walked over to the the stairs, then stopped in his tracks. "Wait, what do you want, (y/n)?" Jamie asked, he knew what the answer would be but he figured he should ask anyways. "(Favorite snack), of course!" I said rolling my eyes jokingly. Jamie chuckled and nodded, walking up the stairs.

Several minutes have passed and Jamie still hadn't come back down. I wasn't too worried, but I still wanted to see what was taking him so long. Maybe he stopped to talk to his mom?

Suddenly, before I could stand up, I heard a gigantic boom that sounded like it came from outside. The ground beneath my feet and everything around me shook with immense force. I heard screaming upstairs and my heart sank with dread. Heading for the stairs, I tried to keep my balance, but before I knew it I was rendered unconscious.

Third person POV
A figure in the forest watched from a distance, as events unfolded. A loud explosion echoed through the small town that (Y/n) and Jamie lived in. The figure looked towards the explosion to see that the towns nuclear power plants had turned into toxic flaming ruins. Turns out, an irresponsible worker that day in the power plants had caused the plants go into full meltdown and explode. Radiation spread through the town like wild fire as screams filled the air. Anyone who breathed in the toxic fumes, started dying one by one.

In Jamie's basement, (Y/n) was hit by a falling ceiling panel and collapsed on to the floor. Meanwhile, upstairs, Jamie was already beginning to breath in the radiation, while his mom was on the floor unconscious due to hitting her head on the counter when the blast came. He cried looking down at her, knowing that he and his mother were probably done for, they both have breathed in too much radiation.

He wiped his tears and looked over at the door leading to the basement, and shut it. Quickly, he grabbed a few hand towels and shoved them in the crack under the door. He may be a goner, but he'll be damned if he didn't try to save the one and only friend he truly cared about.

"Goodbye, (Y/n)." He whispered as he felt himself grow weaker. "Goodbye old friend.."
