Lilac continued to fly forward, the cavern having widened it was easier for her to fly without hitting her wings against the cavern walls. I glance back at Mala, catching sight of her determined yet worried expression.

"Hey. We'll get the egg back." I tried to reassure her, but she didn't pay much attention.

"Melia, we have a situation." I looked forward at Lilacs words, internally cursing as she touched down in front of a cross path.

"Spectacular. Now, where do we go?" Mala took the torch as we both dismounted.

"Which direction?" I glanced in both direction, thinking. Suddenly, I heard something, multiple voices down the tunnel to our right.

"That way." I remarked, pointing down that tunnel.

"You're sure?"

"Absolutely. C'mon!" I took off running down the tunnel, Lilac and Mala close behind. Suddenly, a whole pack of Flame Eaters stood in front of us, their growling stopping us in our tracks. Lilac jumped in front of both Mala and myself, growling back at the Flame Eaters.

"Back!"

"Stay back!" the Flame Eaters chimed, standing their ground. I glanced among the see of small dragons, catching sight of the egg quickly.

"Mala, look." I pointed it out to her, watching as a few of the small dragons growled at the Eruptodon egg. Immediately, Lilac slightly relaxed, cocking her head at the Flame Eater's strange actions.

"They're not acting in a predatory manner." Lilac remarked, drawing my attention. She was right. So what did they want the egg for?

"We have no time for this!" Mala exclaimed as the cavern shook, running past Lilac and towards the egg, following the Flame Eaters as they flew deeper into the cavern with it, all of them screeching,

"Egg!"

"Mala, wait!" I called out, but she didn't listen. "Come on, Lilac." I ran after Mala and the Flame Eaters, catching up just in time to see the Flame Eaters try to fly away from Mala only for Lilac and I to block their way.

"No!"

"Away!"

"Egg not your's!" the Flame Eaters cried, only to have the egg snatched from them by Mala.

"No!" one Flame Eater cried as they rounded on Mala.

"Away from egg!"

"Egg not your's!"

"Hurt egg!"

"Damage egg!" My eyes wandered across the Flame Eater's finally realizing just what was going on.

"Mala, give the egg to me. I have a plan on how to get the egg to the nesting site." Mala stared reluctantly at me before quickly passing me the egg, the Flame Eater's attention switching to me. "That's right. I'm not going to hurt it. See?" I murmured, keeping my gaze on the dragons.

"Egg not for human."

"Egg not safe with human." My eyes widened as I finally realized what they were saying before lifting the egg up into the air, the Flame Eaters circling it.

"Melia the Merciful, what are you doing!"

"They're not here to hurt the egg, Mala. They're here to keep the egg from being harmed by humans. The cave markings were directing us to leave the egg with them, not keep it away." I explained, watching as the Flame Eaters took the egg from my hands. One Flame Eater landed on my back and shoulder, nuzzling my cheek in thanks before flying after the others. Suddenly, the cavern shook, the tremors a lot more violent than the last time. "We need to go!" I exclaimed, grabbing Mala's hand and mounting Lilac with her. Lilac took off down the caverns, soaring up and into one of the Whispering Death like tunnels when the lava that was seeping in blocked our path. In no time at all, we escaped into the clear air and soared carefully down to the ledge where everyone was still waiting.

"Thank Thor, you both made it out in time!" Fishlegs exclaimed as Lilac landed beside Starfire and Storm.

"The egg. Did you-"

"Yeah, Hiccup. With a little bit of help, the egg is safe in its ancestral nesting place." I answered, turning to nod at Mala as she dismounted. Mala nodded back before all of us looked down at the vanishing cavern opening. The Eruptodon egg was safe and that's all that mattered.
