After a few hours, the four became acquainted with each other. A6d and Dream explained that they had gone to the herbalist in hopes of them having a cure for their memory loss. The guard that found them had recommended they do that after they bought a week's stay in one of the local inns for the two boys. And it just so happened that this would be running out tomorrow.
Despite Dream wanting to go to the herbalist and get it over with so they could figure out what to do afterward, a6d insisted on looking around and having fun before doing so.... for 6 days. Only today did Dream convince A6d of going, and it was still very reluctant.
Bad and Skeppy explained the gist of their situation to the other's as well, explaining that they lost their memories a couple months ago and were sent to the academy. They explained that they were told to come here to see if they could recover their memories if they met the other two boys and if they couldn't, to try to find some other way they could. When bad was explaining this, an idea popped into Dream's head.
"We should team up!" The green-eyed boy suggested.
"What do you mean?" Skeppy asked with confusion.
"We can work together to get our memories back! More the merrier, right?" Dream said, pitching the idea to the other three.
"I mean, I don't see why not," Skeppy said with a shrug, looking to Bad, this instantly making him flinch as Bad responded.
"YES!" Bad said, stars filling his eyes in excitement.
Dream turned to A6d with a bright smile, puppy dog eyes accompanying his face.
A6d stared at him, stone-eyed for a second before sighing and giving in as he looked away. "I guess, it's not a bad idea after all."
"YAY!" Bad said, jumping up in excitement.
Skeppy chuckled at his friend. Dream hugged A6d with a smile as he thanked the other.
"You do know we're going to have to find a way to get money if we're gonna be a team.. right?" A6d said, breaking the other three back into reality.
The other boys froze, Bad sitting back down and thinking. How exactly would they get money?
"Didn't one of the guards say they host a quest board in most places? They probably have one here, too." Dream said.
"Hmm, yeah. That could work!" Skeppy said, smiling as he imagined the amazing things that could occur from this. Epic fights here they come!
Around an hour later, they found the kingdom's quest board. They signed up as a team to work on the quests and took a quest before going to one of the local inns and using some of their last money to stay a night before having to head out.
A6d and Dream fell asleep quickly, while Skeppy and Bad couldn't seem to. Skeppy eventually got up, walking outside into the cold and sitting on the steps of the inn. A light flurry fell from the sky as he was left to his thoughts.
After a few minutes, Bad had given up on trying to sleep. When he sat up he had taken notice of Skeppy being gone and remembered the sounds he had heard before. He followed his friend's footsteps and went outside, finding his friend staring off into the distance from thought.
"Skeppy?" Bad asked, this scaring the other a bit as he jolted around, quickly calming at the sight of his friend.
"Oh, Bad. Hey." He said, leaving Bad frowning as the taller boy walked to the steps and sat beside his friend.
"Why are you up?" Bad asked, turning to the other.
"Why are you up?" Skeppy said in return, laughing a bit.
"I asked you first, so you should answer first," Bad replied.
"Fine.." Skeppy started, pausing a bit as he thought of what to say. Why was he up? "I couldn't sleep." he finished.
"I guess we're in the same situation once again," Bad said, smiling a bit.
"Any idea why you couldn't sleep?" Skeppy asked, turning his body and facing the other.
"I don't know, really. How about you?" Bad asked in return.
"Well... I don't know if I can trust them.. yknow? They seem weirdly familiar but I'm scared they're going to stab us in the back." Skeppy answered.
"Well, I don't think they had any knives so I doubt that will happen." Bad replied in a 'matter-of-a-fact' way.
Skeppy laughed at his friend, "No- mean. Betray us."
"I know, I just wanted to try to cheer you up." Bad said with a smile, poking at the other's smile "It seems I've succeeded!"
Skeppy's face seemed to heat up a bit, a soft smile morphing into his face as Bad took his hand away. "Thanks, Bad."
"It's no problem. Now!" Bad said, standing up perkily, putting out his hand to the other as he stuck his other in his pocket and pulled out a bag of coins. "Want to go to that cafe we saw?"
Skeppy's smile grew at the sight of his friend. He grabbed the taller boy's hand as he was pulled to his feet. Skeppy fell farther forward as he embraced his friend with a warm hug. "Thank you. You're an amazing friend."
A soft smile appeared on Bad's face from that comment, "I'm glad."
After a long day of important decisions, it's even more important to get some downtime. And they sure had some downtime. The two had fun that night. Despite the pressure they were currently under, they seemed to forget it all.
And when they got back to the inn, they both had a great sleep.
