Chapter 40 ~ Freedom

"You were sent to protect us... yet you played around with us like we're toys?!" Skeppy asked, angry.

"I just want something to entertain me... I was trapped there for years! Do you understand that?! I could do nothing but watch you all and your boring lives and problems!" Cecilia yelled back, anger seething through her eyes.

"Cecilia." Bad said, his voice and eyes serious.

Cecilia looked at Bad with confusion.

"Were you ever truthful? Did you ever care?" Bad asked.

Cecilia paused for a moment. "I won't lie to you, I did have fun being able to live in your world. Be your friend. But I can't say I was very truthful." 

Bad's eyes became angry as he began to tear up. "All this time... Do you not realize how much this can hurt people?! How much it did hurt me?!" he yelled.

"Not like I can change it now. I can't control you all anymore. My job is over, you all have made it back here and fulfill your task." Cecilia said with a laugh. "I can finally return back to Ellowyn."

"I'm disappointed in you, Cecilia." A voice spoke. This being shown as Ellowyn when she snapped her fingers and appeared in front of Cecilia.

"E-Ellowyn?! How much did you hear??" Cecilia said in a panic, looking up at the other.

"Everything. Cecilia, you broke your word, you said you'd protect them. You did not fulfill your job." Ellowyn stated seriously, the three staring at the figure in front of them.

"What are you saying-?" Cecilia asked as fear filled her eyes.

"I gave you power, your rank. I can take it away."

Cecilia's eyes widened, tears beginning to fall "W-Wait- no!"

"You are hereby no longer an assistant of the goddess of creation. You are now a mere mortal cursed to continue their life till death with the burden on their back that they have failed multiple gods." Ellowyn said, snapping her fingers as Cecilia glowed, returning to her natural form, a mortal elf girl with black hair, pale skin, and light blue eyes.

Cecilia fell to the ground, sobbing. "Please, no! This life is all I have! You're all I have! All these years..." Cecilia looked back up at Ellowyn "Please, forgive me... Were all those years for nothing?! Did you see it as nothing?!" She screamed, a psychopathic look in her eyes as her tone switched back and forth from desperation to anger.

"Make your way in the world, but you will not be forgiven," Ellowyn spoke once more, her voice wavering, snapping her fingers one more time before Cecilia disappeared like dust.

"What did you do to her..?" Dream asked, looking at the woman with a frown.

Ellowyn sighed and turned back to the group "I simply teleported her to the other side of the world so she could get a fresh start."

"Oh, good..." Dream said, pausing for a moment "I don't think any of us want her to die, even if she was cruel." 

Skeppy nodded weakly, Bad doing the same with a frown.

Ellowyn smiled softly, "You three are truly fit for the position of Gods. I should summon A6d, I need to talk to you all." 

"Oh, I can try to-" Dream started, being interrupted by the flash of light, following by the appearing A6d.

"Uh- What is going on?" A6d asked, confused. He gasped as he turned to Skeppy, "You're alive?!"

Skeppy laughed a bit and nodded. "We need to catch you up"
