Thank you for suggesting this! I actually wanted to touch on this subject more but I ended up having to cut it from the plans for pacing :) (Sorry if they seem a bit out of character, I obviously haven't written them in a while lmao)

Between the agreement by A6d to go on a date with Dream and when they began their training as gods, a lot happened between the two. This was never front and center, due to the circumstances. They learned to move past these events so they could continue onward on their quest. However, this doesn't mean this story shouldn't be told.

Dream took A6d on the best date he could manage in their situation, a walk through the nearby forest, and a picnic by the ocean. It was beautiful, to say the least. They both talked and walked for hours, learning more about each other every step of the way. Dream thought it would be perfect to woo his practical soulmate even through reincarnation, but things don't always go to plan - from his perspective.

The two sat on the top of a pile of large rocks, watching as the waves crashed into their seats below, the sun began to set and Dream took this as the perfect opportunity to say what he's been waiting to say.

"A6d?" He asked, his voice soft.

"Hm?"

"I wanted to... confess... something to you." Dream continued, looking in the opposite direction of his date.

"What is it?" The taller man asked, turning to the nervous green-eyed boy. He'd be lying if he said his heart didn't pick up speed even a little bit.

Dream looked back at A6d, looking into his eyes as the other did the same. Dream's eyes were like emeralds, shining brightly and practically glowing in the evening sun. A6d's were like a deep amethyst. Magical and mysterious.

Dream cleared his throat. "I... I wanted you to know that I may have caught feelings for you... Even without the knowledge of our pasts..." He said quietly, looking away.

Silence took over the area, only the distant sound of birds chirping and the waves crashing loudly into the rocks could be heard.

"I'm sorry- But I- I-.." A6d studdered, his face red as his heart went faster and faster. 

"I can't do this!" The taller man said quickly, standing up and jumping off of the rocks and onto the ground nearby. He turned back to the shocked and heartbroken boy now staring at him in sadness. "I care about you, I really do. This was - admittedly - a really good day, but I'm not ready for this... I can't- I just..." He took a shaky breath. 

"I'm sorry." He spoke once more before running into the nearby forest, leaving tears in the eyes of the boy he abandoned on the rocks.

Months later, they were training together. It hurt them both to see each other and work together but they did it nonetheless. For the good of their team, the safety of their friends. 

They had just finished dueling each other. They sat, sweaty and exhausted as they drank water to cool down. It was late at night, but it was still warm from the day before - combined with work-out that is dueling.

They sat in silence, all until A6d spoke.

"I'm sorry." He said, his voice cracking as he set his head in his hands.

Dream turned to him in shock. "Why? Y-You did nothing wrong!" 

"I hurt you!"

"No, you didn't? I'm fine, see!" He said, standing and lifting his arms to show he wasn't physically hurt, smiling forcefully.

"No! You know what I mean! You aren't stupid, Dream. I hurt you emotionally." A6d spoke, lifting his head from his hands to look at the other.  A mix of hurt, aggravation, and regret swirled in his purple eyes, tears pricked at the corners.

Dream's face softened, turning to a frown as he walked closer to A6d.

"You don't need to be sorry, A6d. I can't make you love me, you don't have to love me. It's fi-"

"That's the thing! I do!" A6d yelled, standing up and throwing his hands in the air in frustration as tears dripped from his eyes.

"W-What...?"

"I do! That's why I'm such a fucking idiot! I love you now, I loved you then, I've loved you for forever but I forced myself to push it down and away because of everything going on!" He ranted. 

"I love you, I love you so so much and It's frustrating because I don't want to. I don't want to go through the trouble of all this just to end of hurting you or you hurting me. But then again, I hurt you anyways, right!? What's the point...?" He continued, his voice turning to sobs. "I'm so scared and I fucking hate it."

Dream stared at the other in disbelief. He loved him? Not only did he love him but he's been so distressed all this time and he never even noticed. He stepped forward and set next to A6d, looking at him with a sad smile.

"A6d... You don't have to be scared."

The taller boy picked his head from his hands and looked at the other, the tears streaming down his face.

"I may not get what's going through your mind, but I promise to be as understanding as possible. I want to be able to help. Whether that be as your boyfriend or friend. Just ask and I'll do it." Dream spoke softly, looking into the other's eyes.

Their hearts beat in sync.

"It won't be easy, you know? You understand that?" A6d asked, wiping the slowing tears from his eyes.

"I know. But I still want to make you happy." Dream smiled.

The two sat in silence for a moment before A6d sighed shakily. He looked away from the other for a moment before looking back into his eyes once more, smiling a bit.

"Ask me." He said.

"What-"

"Ask me the question."

Dream thought for a moment before his face heated up, his heart beating quicker. "Uh- Will you be my boyfriend?"

"Sure," A6d replied with a shrug, smiling a bit.

Dream's eyes brightened as he jumped forward and hugged A6d.

"We just... gotta go slow," A6d added.

Dream nodded happily. "Anything for you."

They both smiled at that.

A6d and Dream laid down at the edge of a cloud, staring up at the moon. 

"I was really scared for nothing, huh?" A6d spoke, laughing a bit.

"I mean, that's up for you to determine." Dream said, smiling.

"Hm... I don't know, actually. I do have to deal with your dumbass-ness constantly now." A6d said smirking.

"I'm literally smarter than you." Dream replied, looking at the other with a 'really?' look on his face.

"Show me the IQ test, bud," A6d smirked, looking at the other as well.

"Bet." Dream said smugly, pushing himself up and walking off.

"Hey, that was a joke get your ass back here!" 

"Nope, I'm going to take an IQ test on Earth." Dream yelled back.

"Motherfucker..." A6d mumbled under his breath as he got up and ran after the other, following him back to their old home.

'Yeah... I was scared for nothing.' A6d thought.
