Lilly’s POV
Caspar released his hands from mine and placed them lightly on either side of my face, pulling me closer as he kissed me. This whole time I was debating myself whether or not to make a move and follow the advice Zoe and Alfie gave to me. Finally, I decided to take a leap and do something.
Now, we were in Caspar’s car, kissing like our lives depended on it, which was a cliché way at viewing it. But nonetheless, it was what it was.
I placed my hands on Caspar’s shoulders to keep myself leveled. He placed a hand on my waist to help keep me steady, his other still holding onto my face.
I pulled back to breathe, and I laughed when I saw my lipstick smudge across his lips.
“Sorry. I got some lipstick on you,” I said, wiping my thumb across to get it off.
“I really don’t care right now,” Caspar said, pulling me back and kissing me some more. Quickly enough, I was no longer cold but hot with passion and intimacy. I thought I would be awkward, since I’ve never kissed a guy like I’m kissing Caspar right now. But it was like instinct, and I knew exactly what to do.
Caspar raised a hand and undid my hair, letting it fall around me. He pulled back and stared at me, before taking a strand and playing with it.
“I’m sorry,” he said.
Confused, I pulled away. “Why?”
“It shouldn’t have happened this way.”
My heart seemed to break and I leaned against the chair. “D-Do you not like me, Caspar?”
Caspar looked at me wide eyed. “No no! That’s not what I meant. I like you a lot Lilly. Like, a lot.”
I gave a sigh of relief. “Then what do you mean?”
“I mean, I wish I made a move. In Jersey, you were the one who made it. Today, you were the one to ask me out, holding my hand and everything. Then you kissed me, which by the way, was awesome, but I did nothing.”
I laughed. “ Oh Caspar. I’m just glad you kissed me back.”
Caspar smiled and leaned over, kissing me again before pulling back. “I promise I’ll make more moves on my own from now on.”
“I hope so,” I responded laughing. I was no longer cold; the heat I felt seemed to radiate from inside me, warming me whole.
“Anywhere else to go?” Caspar asked me, starting the ignition of the car.
“Let’s go home.”
Caspar nodded, and pulled out of the parking lot. He drove me to my apartment, where all the lights were out. I forgot my sister would be out.
Caspar left the car on idle as I opened the door. I turned back to look at him. “Are you coming or not?”
“Do you want me to come in?”
“You’re an idiot if you think the answer is no,” I laughed, and so did he.
Caspar turned off the ignition and got out of the car. We walked side by side up the pathway towards the front door. I unlocked it, pulling Caspar by his hand behind me.
Before I could reach to turn on the lights, Caspar pulled me towards him, his hands on my hips and his torso pressed against mine.
He leaned down until our noses were touching, and though it was dark, I knew he was smiling, because I was too.
We stood there quietly, occasionally laughing as we nudged our noses against the others. I leaned my head against Caspar’s chest, listening to the sound of his heart beating.
Steady and strong. It was the type of sound that made you feel safe and sure, as if the world can break down but this would go on. It was the sound of comfort.
“Lilly?” Caspar asked his chin on my shoulder.
“Yeah Caspar?”
“I really like you,” he said, snuggling his head against me.
I laughed lightly against his chest. “I really like you too Caspar.”
Caspar pulled back and took my face in his hands. His eyes travelled all over my face, occasionally lingering longer on a certain path before continuing.
“If I were an artist, you’d be my only muse,” he said.
“You probably won’t make much money of your work then,” I chuckled, turning my face away. I knew he couldn’t see me clearly through the dim moonlight that filtered through the window, but nonetheless, I didn’t want him to see me blush.
“Who said I would sell them? They would be just for me. I would hang them in every room, so I can always see you, even when we aren’t together.”
“You’re so cheesy you know that?”
“Yeah, I know. I can’t help it though,” he said, leaning down to peck on my lips before turning on the lights.
I grabbed his hand and led him to the living room. I turned on the Tv, but I knew we wouldn’t do much watching.
I grabbed a blanket from the hallway closet and draped it over Caspar and me, letting the moment wash over. Caspar wrapped his arms around me and held my hands.
After about five minutes, I got bored of the show and turned around so I was facing Caspar. He looked down at me and smiled, and I buried my face in his chest, trying to hide the fact that I was so happy right now. My cheeks were probably the color of tomatoes, and they hurt from the huge smile that was plastered on my face.
“Hey, why are you hiding?” he laughed.
“I don’t want you to see my face. I look stupid right now,” I mumbled into his chest.
Caspar forced my face up gently, but with enough force for me to look. He held my face in place and looked at me.
“You look beautiful.”
“I look like a tomato.”
“So?” We both laughed and I buried my face back into his chest, calming down my breathing as I lightly placed my arm over Caspar’s side.
“I’m so happy,” I whispered to myself, not thinking Caspar heard me, but he did.
“So am I,” he whispered, kissing the top of my head before the warmth and tiredness I felt dragged me under.
