Caspar’s POV

“I love stuffed crusts, oh my gosh,” I stuffed my face with the crust from my pizza. It was paradise in dough.

“I paid for half this box you know. And you already are three-quarters of it,” my roommate, Joe said. We were in the living room, watching Tv and obviously, eating pizza.

“Yeah, but is it your favorite food? No, so it’s okay,” I continued to eat, taking it in like it was my last slice ever.

“And you wonder why I choose to stay at Eva’s,” Joe laughed, taking a bite of his slice.

“I don’t really care. That means I can use your shower all I want.”

Joe groaned. “You’re such an idiot. You have your own shower!”

“Well, it doesn’t matter if you’re going to keep staying there at Eva’s.” I replied. Looking at the clock, I saw it was about 9 pm. “Well, I’m going to bed.

“What? It’s so early. And it’s your day for dishes,” Joe told me, turning around and spreading his arms out.

“I’ll do it in the morning,” I quickly turned around, but Joe stopped me.

“Why are you acting so weird? Are you not telling me something?”

            “No.” Yes.

“Okay. Good night,” Joe turned around. I said good night and ran downstairs into my room.

I opened my laptop and logged onto Skype. I saw a green dot over Lilly’s name, and I called her.

After a few rings, she answered.

“Hey, Cas,” she smiled at me.  She was so beautiful, especially when she smiled. Tiny wrinkles edged the corners of her grey eyes, making my heart do cartwheels.

            “Hi, Lilly. How are you?”

“I’m good. I just finished working on a painting, so I’m kind of tired.”

“Ahh, that’s nice. Can I see it?” Her artwork was unexplainable. She showed me several of them, and they looked as if emotions themselves painted them.

“Umm, not this one. It’s kind of personal,” she laughed lightly.

“Awww, will I be able to see it one day?” I asked her, curious at what this piece could be that she couldn’t show me.

“Maybe. We’ll see.” She bit her lip, and my stomach did flips.

“I really miss you. When will you come visit us?” I asked her. It’s been three months since I last saw her in November. Well, in person. Around early December, I asked Eva for advice on how I can get to know Lilly, and she gave me her Skype account.

“I won’t be visiting any time soon,” she told me, her expression stiff, as if she was trying to control her emotions.

“Oh. Okay,” I said, disappointed. I felt very impatient, but I tried to not think about it.

“But I promise you’ll see me soon,” she said.

“But you said that you won’t be visiting-“

“I have to go Caspar. Same time tomorrow?” she interrupted me.

“Umm, yeah, I guess so. Bye Lilly,” I said. She waved and ended the call.

I placed my face deep into my bed, wanting to suffocate the sadness that was in the pit of my chest. But what did she mean that I would see her soon? She said she won’t be visiting.

“Ugh, girls are so complicated!” I screamed into my bed, the sound being muffled. But if she meant what she said about me seeing her soon, I will wait.

“God, please don’t let me be Joe.”
