Caspar’s POV

We arrived at the abandoned house that the address held. It looked like it may have once been a small shop, but now it was empty and broken.

Alfie, Eva, Joe, and I walked into the building through the back door, which actually no longer had a door. There was broken glass everywhere, and tiny bugs skittered around aimlessly.

“Check if they have a cellar,” Alfie said. I nodded and started to look for one. I walked around and saw a male and female toilet, a back storage, and what may have been a break room. But no cellar.

“There’s none,” I said, rejoining the group.

Eva looked around and grabbed her head, frustrated. “Agh! She’s not here! It was a decoy!” She yelled. “Jordan knew we would find that. How could we believe he’d be that stupid?”

“Wait. Eva, calm down. There’s something over there,” Joe pointed to the far wall, towards the ground. There was a series of dots and dashes. Whatever it was, I had no clue.

“It’s Morse code. Cassie and Emma used to communicate with each other by tapping on the table during dinner when they didn’t want Jordan to understand. Later on, Cassie taught me so we could do the exact same thing,” Joe said, approaching the writing.

“What does it say?” Alfie asks.

“It says ‘I’m sorry. The real address is…’”Joe trailed off before his eyes went wide. “That’s one of the other buildings! And it’s the closest one to the park as well!”

“How do we know it’s not another decoy?” I ask. We couldn’t risk another delay.

“What more do we have Caspar? And Emma is a kind-hearted person. Do you remember how she argued with a child’s own mother for being so harsh? She’s probably doing whatever she can to help Lilly,” Joe said.

“Even so, it’s a two hour drive from where we are now,” Alfie mentions.

“Then let’s go! C’mon!” Eva says, running out the back door and into the car.

We all followed her and got in the car. We couldn’t afford another day lost. Lilly needed us, and every minute she’s there could mean her own safety.

I know this is a short chapter, but there will be some long chapters coming up. Don't worry, I'll update the chapter after this at midnight (Pacfic Time, or GMT -8 I believe)
