Lilly’s POV

“Emma, why are you doing this? I understand Jordan, but why you?” I asked Emma as she brought me my dinner. It was soup again.

“I don’t think you have the same reason as Jordan. So why?” I press on.

She glances at the closed door behind her and sits down in front of me. She crossed her legs and ran her hand through her long red hair.

“I don’t want to this,” she responds to me.

“Then why are you doing this? Why don’t you stop him?”

“He’s become controlling after Cassie died. And abusive.” She rolls up her sleeves to reveal bruises all over her arms. “If I didn’t listen to him, he would hurt me.”

I looked at her and felt awe. She has been through more than I have, and for much longer too.

I’m sorry,” was all I could say.

“Don’t worry, this will all be over soon-“Emma was cut off by Jordan opening the door. Emma then slapped me across the face.

“You ungrateful bitch!” she yelled at me. Her face looked sorry.

Jordan laughed. “Having fun now are we Emma? Good job,” he said before walking put the door.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered. “But hopefully this is all over soon.”

“What do you mean?” I asked, ignoring the stinging that radiated com my face.

“Jordan and I visited another abandoned building, trying to find a good place to hold this all. He thought it’d be funny to leave a fake address in our hotel, to throw Joe and Eva off. He knew they would find out where we stayed.

“Anyways, I left my own message at the building to find you here. I just hope they’ve found out already. I can’t take all of this.”

I nodded. “Thank you,” I say before she got up and walked out of the door.

“Wakey wakey,” Jordan said, walking into the room. He was carrying a tray of food in his hand. I saw Emma standing by the entrance and could see her about to mouth something to me when Jordan shut the door behind him.

“Why are you bringing the food?” I asked him, standing up to defend myself if I have to.

Jordan pouted. “Aww, I just thought it’d be nice for me to bring in something nice. You’re still recovering from yesterday and I don’t want to press it too much. And you’re going to need your energy for later, so I thought I’d bring you something good to eat.”

I glanced down at the food on the tray and saw a whole pizza with veggies and sausage… My sister’s favorite.

“I don’t trust you, and I’m not going to eat that.”

Jordan placed the tray on the flood and held his hands up in the air. “Hey, if you don’t want to eat it, then I don’t care. It’s your choice.” He backed away and walked out the door.

I stared at the pizza and kneeled down in front of it. I smelled it, and it smelled okay, delicious even. The veggies and sausage on it was covered in oily goodness, and I missed my sister and Caspar more than ever.
