Caspar's POV

The hand that came up and wrapped around my neck smelled horrible. When I was a few yards away from the car, the person let go, turned me around and socked me in the face. I stepped back a few and put a hand up to my jaw and saw a badly burnt up Jordan standing in front of me, his flesh red and black.

"You guys are not going anywhere unless you or Lilly die," Jordan said, taking a few steps towards me again and swinging his hand. This time, I was able to dodge and I connected my fist to his stomach. He reeled back before looking back at me, then lunging.

He tackled me to the ground as I heard Lilly call out to me.

"Stay back!" I yelled back as I grabbed Jordan's face, pushing him away from me. He grabbed at my neck and my grasp loosened, releasing him to wrap my hand around his, trying to pry him from my throat.

He didn't budge, and the edges of my vision starting to darken. I started to cough, and the lack of oxygen made my grip go lose. I thought that I would slip under, when the sound of a gunshot rippled through the air and Jordan fell over.

I coughed and let the air return to my lungs before I looked up at Lilly, Jordan's gun in her hand.

I got up and walked over to her, taking the gun away from her before tossing it away into the muddy terrain we were on.

"Let's go," I dragged her over to the car and we both got in. Joe and Alfie had just entered the car again.

"Was that Jordan?" Joe asked.

"Yeah. Now drive," I said, and he did. I looked at Lilly, who was leaning against her sister's shoulders. "Thank you," I whispered to her.

She looked at me and grabbed my hand, giving it a squeeze. "Thank you," she responded, her eyes closing.

We arrived at the nearest hospital forty five minutes later. We were all checked in, but Lilly was sent to the A&E. Luckily, the rest of us only suffered from slight hypothermia and bruises, but we haven't yet heard the news about Lilly.

The police arrived and they asked us about what had happened. We all told ours, and we watched one of the officers talk into his walkie talkie, calling for some back-up to check out the address that we had given to them.

"You guys need to keep close just in case we have more questions for you," The officer with red hair said. He had a cut that ran over his lip and looked menacing, but his eyes looked kind.

"I don't think we'll be going anywhere anytime soon," I responded.

He nodded. "We need to get you guys some clean and dry clothes first." He walked off and I wrapped the thin blanket around me closer. I was still dripping wet, and so were Alfie, Joe, and Eva. They all had identical blankets as I, and we all sat there silently.

I watched as Joe wrapped himself around Eva, trying to warm them up both. A sense of jealousy and happiness ran through me, if both could exist at once.

I wanted to do that to Lilly, to comfort her, but I wasn't even sure if she had forgiven me. Well, she didn't exactly say she was angry with me, but I would be. I hadn't been able to take care of her, and I let this happen.

I shook my head and got up, pacing around as I waited to hear the news about her. After what seemed like forever, the doctor finally came out.

"Is she okay? How is she?" I asked as Eva, Joe, and Alfie got up and rushed over.

"She's stable now. She has internal bleeding and a few fractured bones, but nothing too serious. She'll be just fine," The doctor said.

"Thank you..." Eva started.

"I'm Doctor Vaugns," she extended out her hand and we each shook it, our hands probably freezing hers.

"When will be able to see her?" Eva asked.

"Visiting hours is technically over, and she's asleep right now. So maybe tomorrow morning."

We all nodded as she walked away.

"We can all go home tonight. We're only about twenty minutes away from home. Get some rest, some warm clothes and come back first thing in the morning," Joe suggested.

Eva, Alfie, and I all shook our head in unison.

"I'm not leaving my sister here."

"I'm not leaving my best friend."

"I have to stay here with her," We all said in unison. Joe mumbled an apology.

"I'll at least ask Zoe to come bring us some clothes," Alfie said, pulling out his cell phone and calling Zoe.

"Hopefully she's still awake. It's nearly one am," Eva said. We all went back and sat down in the lobby of the hospital.

Alfie walked towards us again. "She's on her away. Hope you guys don't mind wearing my clothes," he said to Joe and me.

We shrugged, not really caring if it was Zoe's clothes we'd have to wear. As long as they were clean and dry, I didn't mind.

Zoe arrived here half an hour later, bags of clothes in her hand.

"Okay, Eva, I brought you some of my joggers and a thermal. And some warm boots. Alfie, I brought three pairs of yours and some random long sleeves. You decide what you want there. C'mon Eva, Imma help you out," she said, bringing Eva towards the woman's toilet.

Alfie handed me a pair of grey joggers and a black thermal long sleeve. I walked towards the toilet and locked one of the stalls behind me as I started to strip from the damp clothes. Quickly I redressed myself, the warmth and dryness relieving.

I grabbed the wet clothes and wrapped it in the blanket and exited the public toilet when a police officer approached me.

"Son, we need you and your friends' clothes now since you guys were able to change."

I nodded and handed him the ball. When Zoe and Eva exited, the officer told her and she did the same thing before taking Joe's and Alfie's clothing.

The nurse handed us new blankets and we thanked her. We all sat back down and started to drift off.

In the morning, when Lilly wakes up, I want to be the first one she sees.
