Lilly’s POV

It was over a month since the incident and I’ve mostly recovered. The bruises were fade, I can walk now, and there were no more open wounds.

What bothered me the most was when I thought about myself shooting Jordan in the head, and when the cops described the corpse, seemed to resemble what had happened to his sister. Except one was suicide and the other defensive murder.

Today is Caspar’s twenty-first birthday and my sister and I were on our way to his apartment. We finally got a car, a navy blue pickup truck that could fit four people inside and had a roomy back for when I needed to haul some art supplies around for big projects.

We arrived there a few minutes later. I took the present I had for him from the back of the truck and walked towards the door. My sister knocked on the door, and Joe opened the door.

“The first ladies of the flat has arrived!” Joe laughed, kissing my sister before letting us in. Jim and Tanya were here already, and so was this other guy named Oli, but that was it for now.

It was just going to be a small party, only some close friends coming over. Troye and Tyler even said they’d try to make it.

            “Where’s Caspar?” I asked Joe.

“He’s downstairs, still getting ready,” Joe said, giving me head motions with his head to go down and call Caspar.

I laughed and went downstairs, carrying my present for Caspar with me. I knocked on his bedroom door and Caspar opened it. He was wearing a black and white striped shirt and black jeans. I looked down at my black and white striped party dress and laughed.

“I know it’s your birthday and everything, but you need to change,” I laughed, letting myself into his room. He closed the door behind me as I set his present on his bed.

I turned around and Caspar grabbed me by the waist, pulling me closer to him. “Don’t worry I will. Stripes look better on you,” he said, kissing me firmly on the lips.

I held his face there and deepened the kiss, suddenly wishing that people weren’t about to fill in this apartment. I pulled back and smiled at him.

“We can have our own little celebration later. But for now, I wanted you to open my present now.”

“I told you not to get me a present,” Caspar said.

“Don’t worry about it, I didn’t spend money. Or well, for the supplies like a while ago, but  just, just open the stinking present!”

Caspar laughed. “Okay, okay.” He grabbed the red wrapped present off his bed. It was large and flat, and I think he could tell it was a canvas.

He unwrapped it all and started at the painting. My blood rushed quickly through my veins, and I was scared he didn’t like it.

“This is wonderful,” Caspar said. “Wow!”

I let out a silent sigh of relief. We were both looking at a picture of Caspar and I on the beach at Playlist. Troye had DMed me a picture of it on twitter. He said that we looked cute and that he wanted to take a picture. Since then, I’ve always looked at it, and thought it’d be nice painted.

“This is the painting I didn’t want to show you before. I was embarrassed,” I blushed.

“Why? It’s so beautiful! It’s like I’m really looking at an actually photograph of the beach.”

“Because I wasn’t really sure then if you liked me. Remember?” I laughed.

“Well, I’m glad you know now,” Caspar set down the painting and walked over to me, wrapping his arms around me and kissing my forehead. “It really is beautiful.”

“I’m glad you liked it,” I smiled, wrapping my own arms around him. “Now will you change your shirt please?”

Caspar laughed. “Yeah okay.” I watched Caspar shrug off his shirt. I turned away, still embarrassed even though I’ve seen it several times already.

He rummaged through his closet and picked out a grey and white t-shirt, a design in which I could not describe, but it looked nice on him.

“Should we go up now?” I asked.

“C’mon,” Caspar said, taking my hand and we walked upstairs to join the rest of the group in celebration.
