Caspar’s POV

“Caspar! Caspar wake up!” I heard a female voice say. I was shaken awake, and I turned my head to see Joe and Eva kneeling over me. I sat up, shaking my head and seeing that I was in a park.

“Caspar! What happened?” Joe said, putting a hand on my back as support.

“Jordan- Emma-“I mumbled out, my head still spinning from the hit and fall.

“Caspar, where’s my sister?” Eva said.

A shock of realization went through me, and I stood up. “I-I don’t know. They took her,” I said. My heart dropped.

Eva whimpered and covered her mouth with her hands and started to cry. “What? Caspar! I told you to watch after her,” she went up to me and started to pound on my chest.

Joe grabbed her arms and wrapped his own around her, trying to calm her down. I started to cry too.

“I’m sorry. It all happened so fast-“

“Stop. Caspar it happened already. We have to focus on trying to find her now,” Joe said. He nodded to me. “What’s that in your hand?”

I looked at my right hand, which had a little note in it. I unfolded it and read it aloud. “You’ll hear from me soon.

I cursed and crumpled the note and threw it on the ground. I saw that the canvas was lying on the floor, and I went to pick it up. I looked at it for a moment, looking at two of my old friends’ faces. And I banged it against the bench.

I yelled in frustration and continued my action until the frame was broken and the fabric was ripping apart.

“This is all my fault! I knew it was a bad idea to come but I still let her do this,” I put both hands on my head and paced around.  “I’m such a bloody idiot!”

“Both of you need to calm down. This is a terrible situation we’re in, but if we’re going to find Lilly, then we need to keep it together,” Joe said, letting of Eva to run his hand through his hair.

Eva and I nodded. I turned to face her.

“Eva, I’m really sorry. I shouldn’t of let her come today.”

Eva shook her head. “I’m not mad Caspar. I wish you told me what she was doing. But I can’t think of the ‘ifs” right now. We need to find my sister.”

At that moment, Eva’s phone rang.

“Guys! It’s Lilly!” she said, answering her phone. “Hello?”

Eva’s face became serious and angry.

“Give me back my sister you piece of shit!” She screamed into the phone. I saw her clench her fist and I walked up to her and took the phone from her hand.

“Jordan,” I said into the phone.

“Caspar! Glad to know you’re awake. How was your beauty sleep?” he mocked.

            “Jordan, where is Lilly?”

“Hopefully, you guys will get to find out soon. But for now, let me talk to Eva again would ya?”

I gave the phone back to Eva, and she took the phone. She lifted in to her ear and slowly her eyes grew wide, and she dropped her phone and started to cry.

“Eva!” Joe said and held her. “What did he say?”

“He-he said,” she said between sobs. “He said I’ll know what it was like to lose a sister.”

Joe and I looked at each other, our eyes wide with horror. My mind was racing, and I knew that I had to find her soon. Every minute was crucial.

“We have to find her. Is there anywhere they could have went?” Eva asked.

“They’re not from here Eva. I doubt they could have any family members here, or any land they own. They must be somewhere abandoned,” Joe said.

“Wait, wait. What time is it?” I asked.

“It’s seven o’clock. You didn’t call me at six thirty so I tried contacting you, and you didn’t answer. I picked up Eva and came straight here. Why?”

I did calculations in my head. “Okay, Lilly and I arrived here around five thirty. They got here around five forty. That’s when things happened. And when they called, I didn’t hear an engine, or anything, meaning they were no longer driving. So that means….” I but my thumb and started to pace.

“That means they could be no more than an hour and a half from here! Caspar you’re bloody brilliant!” Joe said.

“Exactly. Now all we have to do is what, look for an abandoned place within a ninety minute drive from here.”

“Let’s go, please. We need to find her soon,” Eva said. Joe and I nodded and we walked to our cars. Joe and Eva got into Joe’s car, and I got into mine.

I followed Joe to our apartment. I had to make sure I found her. It was all my fault. And I couldn’t let anything bad happen to her.
