Chapter 16: Kissed then Hugged

Narrator POV

The classes who watched on the sidelines all gasped at the I-Island student's condition when she was brought up on the stretcher. Even the teachers were impressed by the acting skills of (Y/n) as she cried a stream of tears. Shoji, Kaminari, and Mineta were obvious with their reaction upon seeing the girl crying and trembling. All three of them reassured the girl but kept talking over one another.

Professor Blight face-palmed at the scene and looked to the rest of the students, "that is an example of what not to do, got it?"

(Y/n) suddenly gasped in pain, adding more panic to the three rescuers. She clutched her right metal peg as if it was in pain and continued to tremble on the stretcher. Aizawa furrowed his brows in frustration upon seeing his three students utterly fail at comforting a victim.

Kaminari, who already knew he was bad at comforting crying girls, gazed over to Midoriya and called him over. Midoriya quickly reacted to Kaminari's cry for help and peered down to the person laying on the stretcher. His eyes widened in realization. 'It's the person who!—" he blushed, but his embarrassment quickly faded away after realizing she was in pain.

He crouched to (Y/n) and slowly made her sit up. She gasped in pain after the motion and her breathing turned ragged. Midoriya was worried to no end and decided to give her a comforting hug in the midst of panic. Glancing to his three classmates, he quickly barked them orders to rescue the other two I-Island students quickly while he comforted (Y/n).

"Rescue Suzu-san and Axel-san! I'll handle her injuries and calm her down!"

Mineta carefully dragged the stretcher once again to the cliff after Midoriya lifted (Y/n) out of it. Carefully placing her body on his lap, he began to warm your body up after noticing (Y/n) kept trembling. As if her injuries weren't enough, fear also bombarded her thoughts causing Midoriya to utter sweet comforting words into her ear.

The bystanders were quite impressed by Midoriya's quick thinking, especially Professor Blight. However, he also had trouble deciphering if (Y/n)'s tears were real or not. Looking over to both his students, they truly did do a splendid job acting like a real victim; even though Kai is just supposed to lay down as the fainted victim.

Midoriya hugged (Y/n) closer to him as she finally ceased her whimpers to small sobs. She hiccupped on his shirt as she repeatedly whimpered how much her leg hurts. Midoriya took a strand of (Y/n)'s hair and placed it behind her left ear after he wiped the tears that kept falling from her left eye. It finally dawned to him how very close he was to the girl he had previously kissed and felt his nerves rumble in embarrassment.

"hic my right leg hic," she mumbled into his gym clothes again.

Pushing his nerves to the side, he brought his right hand to where her right hand continuously clutched her metal peg. And decided to lace his hands with her. He squeezed it a little before whispering to her expose left ear, "it's going to be okay."

(Y/n) POV

You blushed after hearing the simple sentence being uttered to your left ear. You gulped nervously already wanting to end this whole acting façade. Not only were you being hugged by a random person, but this guy is way too perfect at his job on reassuring the victims!

Nonetheless, you clutched onto your rescuer's shirt and kept 'panicking' and 'crying' over your fake pain. This resulted in your rescuer to hug you a bit tighter as a reassurance. 'I'm going to kill Suzu-san and Axel-san once this is over! Why did I agree to be the one acting the damsel in distress!?'
