zenitsu x reader (on hold)

Chapter 5

A few days have passed. Y/N has gotten closer to Zenitsu, Tanjiro, and Inosuke. Especially Zenitsu.

Sometimes, she praises Inosuke whenever he trains, by motivating him to do stuff.

To Tanjiro, she gives him some of the books she didn't and did read, and some she let him keep. Y/N brought up the question about what was in the box they carried around, but he never directly answered.

To Zenitsu, she brings him to places like the nearby wisteria forest, and a flower field just behind Yu and her house.

Yoi keep noticing Zenitsu glancing at you once in a while, and then looking away almost nervously. "What's wrong? Is there something on my face?"

Zenitsu looked back at you, before shaking his head frantically. "No- no no. Nothing is wrong, it's just I've never really- how do I put it.." His eyes darted back and forth between you and the scenery around you two awkwardly, before starting again, "never hung out so friendly with a girl before.."

He said that last part softly, so you couldn't hear much, and ended up staring at him wondrously. Before he noticed, you looked away and stared into the sunset over the horizon.

The red faded to orange then yellow, looked beautiful, and calmed you down in a way. It reminded you of one of the times spent together with your family, and how Derail and Aki used to play together non-stop while also enjoying the sunset. Sometimes when you were alone, you'd fall asleep to the light slowly setting.

You didn't notice tears formed in your eyes before Zenitsu exclaimed, "A-ah! You're crying?! I'm sorry did I do something-"

"No.. No no!" You giggled sadly, "You didn't do anything.. it's just a memory I suddenly.. remembered..." And it felt like you relived it..

Of course you didn't say it, not because Zenitsu wasn't trustworthy, but because you wanted it to be a memory only you can remember, and only you. It made you feel special in a way, important.

You felt a heat source on her cheek, and something wiped your eye. Looking up you noticed that Zenitsus hand was on your face, wiping the tears in your right eye away.

You two stared at each other for a little while before he jolted and stood up, "Ahhh- sorry about that.. I was out of my mi-" Scrambling away, you touched the spot he touched with his hand. It felt so warm.. almost like how your father used to touch, in such a loving way.

I never noticed how beautiful his eyes were until now..., You thought, a soft smile spreading on your face.
