"W-wait do you mean, 'That looks strangely familiar'? You've seen it before?!" You asked Yuki, who was calmly sipping a cup of Matcha tea. Losing control of your composure, you rub your hands on your arms, something you did when uncomfortable or nervous.

"My lover used to wield a familiar sword like the one you drew. It was beautiful, but he was rarely home. Since he married me, he had to quit his place as a demon slayer to spend more time at home with me."

You sat down on the pillow, rubbing her chin. "So.. about the sword I randomly drew... what's the deal with it?"

Yuki sipped before smiling, "Become a demon slayer yourself."

You start to laugh, "That's a funny joke-" You continue to laugh before you notice she was serious.

"Yy-you're not joking.."

Shit.

Who knew Yuki could train someone like hell. Non stop hours every day of non stop training. Out of breath, you fall onto the ground.

"A-are...Ar-are you s-sure th-his will.. work?" Wheezing, you cough, trying to catch your breath. Yuki nods.

"Demon slayers have to go through serious pain and misery just to survive out there, but most have poor swordsman skills and end up dying. From either not training at all, or training not enough or hard enough."

If this is what It takes to survive then I'll do it., You thought confidently, although know the dangers and risks of stepping too far. Still, you couldn't break your promise with your mom.

It was all you had left

Time Skip to the final selection

-

It scared you, and you were trembling down to your bones. Steady your breathing, Y/N, you've got this.. just fight some demons, get it over with, and go back home, safe and sound in your bed.

It was about to start, and all you could think was, nothing. Every memory from your brain gone. You even forgot why and who you were doing this for.

Everyone started to walk towards the entrance to wherever that was. You just stood there, panic running through your veins. You didn't know what was keeping you from walking forward and getting through the event, but still, it scarred you deeply.

From what Yuki said about the Final Selection, tons have died with only a few who survived. You didn't want to be one of the dead.

So you pushed yourself to walk forward, which finally, your body responded to. You followed after the others, and stepped into the battle field.
