CYRUS P.O.V

"Mate, you good?" Enzo stepped into my office, closing the door behind him.

I rested into the back of the chair and breathed out through my nose. I stared out the window, overlooking the rest of the Pack off in the distance. It was a cloudy day, not many people were walking round, and the sun barely bringing light through the windows.

"Cyrus?" He called out and I swung my head towards him, watching as he sat down casually on the loveseat and stretched his leg out.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm solid," I replied and turned my chair to face the table, pulling myself in and picked up the files that Madeline had gotten Nevaeh to sign.

"You sure? You left abruptly." He added and my mouth twitched into a smile.

"Enzo, You're here to check if I'm depressed over my mother's death- but rest assured, I'm fine," I replied and signed the papers, right beside Nevaeh's signature. "And besides, it was a while ago. Shit happens, people move on."

"Exactly, so there isn't much for me to say then?" He asked,

"Yeah," I let out a chuckle and placed the files in the drawer.

Simple and direct. That was the way Enzo and I handled things, and that's how I like it. Submitting to sentimental shit annoyed that crap out of me. It was a breath of relief to not have to dwell on it.

"Thought you were going to start crying, didn't know what I would've done." Enzo chuckled and scoffed.

"We're too grown for all of that," I snickered and lifted my eyebrow. "And you'd be the last person that would witness me in that state." I joked,

"Oh don't get too confident, Alpha, I've seen you in those moments, plenty of times," He laughed and placed his arms over his chest.

"Not recently," I defended, my pride settling in.

"No, not recently." He nodded and scratched the back of his head.

"Is she okay?" I asked him, turning back to face the window.

"Who?" He asked,

"Your Luna," I said, my tone obvious.

"Er..yeah...she was a little worried about you." He replied cautiously and I nodded for him to continue. "But I must admit, I might have lashed out at her."

My eyebrows instantly creased into a frown and I swung my head to face him.

"The fuck do you mean Enzo?" I asked him.

"Hear me out, Cyrus, you know how I get when it comes to Mrs. Christiansen, you weren't the only person that loved her deeply." He replied trying to defend himself.

"And you think that was wise - lashing out at your Luna?" I asked him, raising my eyebrow, interrupting him.

"Your Mate is very self-entitled..and my wolf got defensive and I lost control. I apologize." He replied and sat up straight and I gave him a stiff nod.

"She is entitled. Nevaeh is your Luna and you need to learn to accept that. So don't apologize to me." I replied sternly. "It's been over a year, Enzo, what's your issue with her?" I asked him seriously with a sigh.
