"I was in love with Alpha Ragon." She sniffled.

I instantly let out a chuckle of disbelief. She met my eyes and gave me a stern look, indicating that there was no deception in her claim.

"You're being serious?" I asked again and she nodded, wiping her face with a handkerchief. "But I'm sure a lot of people loved Alpha Ragon—"

"No, we were seriously involved." She defended. "It started off as a casual fling." She continued and my wolf stirred in irritation at the thought of Alpha Ragon and Madeline together.

Did Cyrus know of this?

"Casual fling?" I pressed onwards.

"Yes." She pushed a couple of strands of her grey hairs behind her ear. "He was such a dream and I fell hard for him. But then afterLuna's' death, he became seriously depressed and forgot all about me."

"Wait, hold up." I interrupted. "Madeline you knew that about the Luna and you still continued the affair?" I asked with a hint of judgment in my tone.

She avoided my eyes, "Yes, I was young."

"That doesn't make it right Madeline."

"Please don't judge me..we've all done terrible things." She replied, mumbling the last bit to herself.

"I'm sorry, please continue."

"After her death, Ragon left me and handed me over to Juan — my mate." She said distastefully. "And he maltreated me and continues to hurt me physically and emotionally."

My mouth opened in shock at her words.

"Why are you still with him? Why didn't you tell anyone?" I asked her.

"Because I couldn't, by the time I had enough of Juan, Alpha Cyrus had taken over. And I knew that everyone would make connections to Ragon and I." She expressed.

This was all too much to process.

"And I thought that it would break Alpha Cyrus if he knew about my affair with his father. But.. he found out because —"

She paused for a moment and then stood up.

"No, I've said too much, Luna." She protested and I stood up too, grabbing her arms.

"Come on Madeline, just continue."

"You'll hate me, Nevaeh." She bowed her head and I shook mine.

"I'd never hate you," I replied honestly.

"Alpha Cyrus offered me work at the PackHouse in an attempt to escape Juan and I took it happily. But it wasn't until I found out that he was well aware of the affair and gave me the job just to torture me."

"But Cyrus treats you well. If you were so unhappy, why didn't you say no or leave?" I defended my mate.

"Leave? Impossible. You really think Alpha Cyrus would happily hand me this job without a hidden agenda. The young lad still hates me for that night."

"What night?" I asked,

"The night that his mother died, I was laying in that—"

"What are you two doing here?" A voice called from behind us, interrupting us instantly.

Jaxon stood at the door with his arms crossed with an amused look on his face.

"Madeline" He began, "You're looking well," He winked at her and she quickly wiped away her tears, swapping them with a sweet smile.

"I was just arranging some documents for the Alpha, I'll be leaving now." She smiled and walked towards the door, passing Jaxon and failing to look back at me.
