Loki's POV
The air was tense as I stood in the middle of the woods, Thor by my side as we wanted to for the others to meet back up with us. Upon arriving at Svartalfheim, we had run head-on into a battalion of dark elves. With all of us working together, the battle was quickly over. Several of the elves had surrendered after they realized they were outmatched by the Avengers and me. They had quickly given us the information we wanted; firing the bomb at Midgard had been a complete accident. At the elf's words, Steve and Tony had looked at each other, not quite believing the elf kneeling before them, begging that his life be spared. After a little more investigation, it was proven that the missile fire had been a complete accident. Now, we were just waiting for the others to return to the meeting point, some of them having had ran into a little trouble on the way back.
I twisted my hands, not looking in my brother's direction as I dwelled on the words I said to my wife. None of the words had been demeaning, but the way I had said them? I wasn't sure that she was ever going to forgive me. I couldn't believe that I had yelled at her. I had never used that tone of voice with her before. The last time I had yelled at someone like that was when I had been in prison, telling my most wonderful mother that she was in fact not my mother and Odin not my father. I felt the same kind of guilt now that I had felt then.
With a slight flex of my wrist, the blade I had hidden in my sleeve appeared in my hand before disappearing and reappearing again with a twitch of my wrist. I stared off into the woods, trying to keep my anxiety under check. I was so worried. What if she doesn't love me anymore? What if she doesn't want me anymore? What am I supposed to do without her?
"Loki." I jumped at my brother's deep voice. I threw a glance over my shoulder at the blonde to find him staring at me, his eyes sad before I returned my gaze to the woods ahead of me. "Loki," Thor said again and my shoulders tensed slightly. I didn't want to talk about this with him right now. I didn't ever want to talk about him. I was so angry at myself. I couldn't believe I had yelled at my beautiful wife with other people present, those three people being Tony, Steve, and my own brother no less. It didn't help that Thor absolutely adored (Y/N). "Loki, she doesn't hate you," my brother said, my shoulders tensing even further. He didn't know that. And there was no way (Y/N) didn't hate me after what I had done.
"You don't know that," I said quietly. I heard my brother sigh from behind me.
"I do, Loki. I know you think I'm an imbecile, I know because you told me numerous times, but if I know anything, it's that (Y/N) loves you," he said. "And you love her, and that's never going to change." I felt Thor clap me on the back, and I flinched. He either didn't notice or didn't want to say anything because he stayed silent. "Just talk to her, apologize to her. Just try and explain to her." Reluctantly, I nodded. I knew he was right, I just didn't want to give him credit; my pride was in the way.
Just then, I heard the crunching of twigs and leaves. Thor removed his hand from my shoulder and we both turned out attention to the direction from which the sound was coming. The hidden blade slipped from my sleeve as Thor raised his hammer, preparing for whatever was coming at us.
"Easy there, Reindeer Games, Point Break; it's just us," a voice called. I huffed and slipped my knife back into my sleeve. I was just Tony. Soon enough, he and the other Avengers entered the small clearing. "Ready to head back?" Tony asked, brushing some dirt off the shoulder of his armor, the visor of his helmet pulled back.
