I sighed as I leaned my head back on the rim of the bathtub before taking a deep breath back in. The warm water was high, the bubbles from my favorite bubble bath even higher. I was trying to get as much rest and relaxation as possible before I had to go back to dealing with my family. I hadn't had enough time to prepare. A month probably wouldn't have been enough warning. I thought maybe when I got to Asgard I could say goodbye to my past, to my family, to the darkness, but here it was again, always following me.
A knock on the backroom door caused me to start, splashing a small bit of water out of the tub. I put a hand over my face and let out a sigh as I heard my husband's voice coming from through the wooden door.
"(Y/N), are you okay in there?" his soft voice asked. I sunk lower into the water, continuing to take deep breaths.
"Yeah, I'm fine!" I called. "Just uh, can you come in here for a moment?" I asked shyly.
"A-are you sure?" his voice asked meekly.
"Yeah, you've washed my hair already," I reminded him. At that, the door opened slowly, Loki looked at the floor as he entered the bathroom. "Uh, just come sit over here," I said, wincing as I waved my hand at the floor which only succeeded in getting the floor even more wet. I let out another huff. I heard him chuckle as he sat on the floor next to the tub.
"What is it, darling?" he asked softly as he casually put some soap on his hands before gently running this fingers through my damp hair.
"Loki," I began, turning to look at him. "You don't-" I was cut off when he pressed a slim finger to my lips, quietly shushing me.
"I want to, my dove," he said. "Just let me wash your hair, and you tell me what is on your mind," he directed. I looked at him for a moment more, his emerald green eyes catching my own. They were sincere, and he looked at me expectantly. I finally turned around and relaxed against the tub once more. "Tell me what's going on in that pretty head of yours," he requested softly, his hands still running gently through my (H/C) hair.
"My parents," I began slowly. I wasn't sure where I was to begin. There was so much going through my head, and looking through it all, I couldn't decide on which piece of information to begin with. "My parents and I have never really gotten along," I settled for. "We, um, my mom, she's very proper as you could tell from earlier," I said through a sad chuckle. He hummed in acknowledgment, motioning for me to go on. "And my father, politics is really the only word, so we've never really gotten along. Though," I said, a small smirk on my face. I turned around to face Loki once more. "If it weren't for my politically obsessed father, I would never have met my charming prince," I said, reaching up to give him a kiss. He seemed to get the memo and pressed a soft kiss to my lips.
"And for that I am forever thankful," he said with a smile. "It sounds like there's more. You have another brother, no?" he asked, and I nodded in return. I returned to my original position as he resumed his ministrations.
"Casimir," I said through a sigh, "politics." I heard him hum again. "I'm just the black sheep of my family I suppose," I said with a shrug of my shoulders.
"But you are just the way I like you. You are my perfect dove," he said as he rinsed out my hair.
"Thank you," I said genuinely. "I'm glad someone thinks so," I added under my breath.
"You are perfect just in the way that you are. I wouldn't change any part of you, and I wouldn't trade you for the world," he said sweetly before pressing a kiss to my cheek. "Will that be all, madame?" he asked teasingly. I couldn't help but laugh at his words.
