"STILL NO WORD FROM VISION?"
A man none other than Secretary Ross continues the questions in a irritated voice that sounds tinny from the holographic live image of him.
Colonel James Rhodes stares off to the side with a distanced and pained expression, responding with a shrug, "Satellites lost him somewhere over Edinburgh,"
"On a stolen quinjet with five of the world's most wanted criminals!"
"You know they're only criminals because you've chosen to call them that," Rhodey pulls away from the table he's been leaning on, jabbing a finger at the image and snapping, "Right, sir?"
"My, god, Rhodes," Ross says with a disgusted tone, "Your talent for horsecrap rivals my own. You're just feeling sensitive because your best buddy and your little 'sassy niece' are missing,"
Rhodey narrowed his eyes dangerously at the mention of his best friend and the girl he was honored to call his niece. "If it wasn't for those Accords, Vision would've have been right here,"
"I remember your signature on those papers, Colonel." Ross says.
"That's right, and I'm pretty sure I've paid for that," Rhodey says.
"You have second thoughts?"
"Not anymore," Rhodey stares at him, ticked off.
A sound echoes in the distance, the sound of doors opening and then, feet approaching.
AJ Rogers slowly strides in next to her father and Natasha. Her father is the first to break the silence, "Mr Secretary,"
"You got some nerve. I'll give you that,"
"You could use some of that right now," Natasha bites, back with her usual mocking smirk.
Ross definitely wasn't pleased with this. The ex-Avengers standing there, acting like everything was okay and back to normal, so they could go back to being heroes. No, to him, they weren't heroes. They were criminals, every single one of them was a criminal.
"The world is on fire..." Ross lowly and bitterly questions, slowly coming to a stop across from him and his daughter, "And you think, all is forgiven?"
"I'm not looking for forgiveness. And I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her two best defenders... So, we're here to fight. And if you to stand in our way..." AJ watched as her father steps closer to the Secretary with defiance burning in his eyes, "We'll fight you too,"
"Colonel." With a final glare at Steve, Ross turns around to face Rhodey who hasn't moved an inch, "Arrest these ex-Avengers,"
"All over it," Rhodey falls back into the role of a soldier before he pulls the feed from sight.
Then he smirks and gives a tired shrug, "That's a court marshall. It's great to see you, Cap,"
"You too, Rhodey,"
Despite what Ross called them or anything else, the Avengers were back. And this time, they'll go down fighting. As a team.
THE WAKANDAN KING SLOWLY WALKS across the wet green grass. There is an added determination and ferocity to each and every step that T'Challa makes. He knows exactly who's coming and why they're coming. And if a war is coming, then he's gonna make sure that everything is all set. He has plenty of help here to help them out and make sure that they win.
"And what of this one?"
"This one may be tired of war. But the White Wolf has reared long enough,"
Bucky Barnes, best friend to Steve Rogers and uncle to AJ Rogers, works near the hut that he now calls his own, using his only arm to toss a large bag of grain onto a nearby cart with a look of concentration on his face. But when he sees the king and his men coming, he immediately knows what they're gonna say.
When they reach him, the guards carefully set down a large metal case, Bucky slowly walks up to the king with a look of understanding. His dark brows dip in and he lets out a nearly silent breath at the sight of a new vibranium arm resting within the case.
He doesn't want to kill. He doesn't want to go to war. But he will. He will to protect the world, the world that his best friend has been protecting and lives in, the world that his honorary niece lives in. The world that's his home.
But there's one thing he needs to know.
"Where's the war?" He lowly asks.
"On its way,"
