Part Twenty Four

Everyone was praying but Eve got sicker. Everyone knew she was going to die but they didn't give up hope.

After two weeks Eve was at death's door. The doctors said she had less than a week. Enjoy it, they said.

Enjoy it?! As if. I'm too busy being sick, Eve resisted the urge to say.

"Her time is up," the doctors said to Genaro behind closed doors.

Genaro swore. He went and stayed by his wife and told her he loved her and she cried and said she was sorry.
