"Well everyone, I used to have epilepsy," Aaron said.
Eve did stood up. "And during break, I was diagnosed with it. When I was sick, I had my first seizure, and on Tuesday, around fourth hour I began to get the symptoms. I was really nervous but I made it through the day. I was afraid of having a seizure while I was driving home, so my husband came and picked me up. On the way home, I had my second seizure. During break, just before I was diagnosed, I had my third."
It was silent.
"I will be continuing to teach here. I would like you guys to know that I could have a seizure at any time. Usually I black out, so if I'm standing up, I will fall."
Someone said, "What are we supposed to do?"
"Just wait. But if I'm out for more than 5 minutes you need to go to Mr. Daes immediately and tell him, because it shouldn't last that long."
"What happens when you black out? Do you just.... Black out?"
"Nope. I convulse - do you know what that is?"
Everyone shook their heads.
"It means her body gets rigid, and she'll fall if she's standing. Then after a moment, she'll start making periodic jerking movements," Aaron said.
"It could happen anytime, but like I said, I usually get warned - a lot of people don't - so I'll tell you guys if I'm expecting anything," she said with a wink. "Any questions?"
