This is a pretty cool film. I know everyone raved about it and it definitely deserves it. If you have kids it's probably super relatable, and for me it reminded me why I don't have kids - it's just not my jam. There are a lot of baby related moments, including a lot of the gross stuff. Also a yet-to-be-diagnosed neuro-a-typical demonstrating a lot of challenging behaviour. And you know, a run of the mill girl.

The gist of it is the new baby is born and the mother is tired as always. Her well-to-do brother shouts her a night-nanny, a Mary Poppins type figure for the worn out mother. Together they turn her life around from tired and frazzed to upbeat and bake-sale. But then as they get closer, they start to drift... and the drifting has consequences.

It's a really interesting and realistic portrayal of mental burnout in mothers (as much as I understand it). And there's a lot of relatable realisation for any insomniac as well. I thought the ending was particularly well handled. It feels quite short, and might not have the structure you usually expect of a film.

J* gives it 4 stars.
